75 Ohm Silver Plated Cardas Copper Coaxial Cable Quadruple Shielding 0.6m
For its Premier XL, Pangea has opted for an uncompromising approach to audio and cable design. With 18AWG (0.823mm²) Copper Cardas Grade 1 conductors with 6% Silver plating, this coaxial cable does not hesitate to use the best components to ensure maximum conductivity. Conductors covered with quadruple shielding, Nitrogen-injected Polyethylene foam insulation, high quality Prime 750 RCA connectors and a high-strength braided Nylon outer jacket.
This cable range was created by Jay Victor for whom the three main challenges in digital cable design are transmission, shielding and finally connections. His experience in the field of cable design but also his extensive research has enabled him to design a new design by taking advantage of the advantages of certain materials.
For the signal transmission, Cardas Grade One Copper was chosen, renowned for being the best Copper available today. It is mined in Arizona and then transported to New England where it is slowly transformed into wires in a custom-designed Argon gas chamber to ensure that no impurities enter the conductor. Once these conductors are ready, they are delivered to a second factory where they are plated with 6% pure silver.
Particular care has also been taken in the design of the cable shielding. Indeed, this is an essential point so that the signal is not distorted by interference. If for Jay Victor a minimum of double shielding is essential, he chooses to offer the Premier XL a quadruple shielding for a precise and unaltered transmission. More important than the multiplication of shielding layers, it is the combination of materials that is important in such an exercise. There is a silver plated copper mesh, a double layer of Aluminium / Mylar and finally a layer of PE.
After much research to find the ideal connectors, Jay Victor discovered the RCA Prime 750s, which used a design that allowed them to obtain an ultra-low mass and make the most of the metals used, while avoiding problems associated with a higher mass, such as eddy currents. Prime 750 connectors therefore have an ultra-low ground, a gold plated Tellurium Copper center contact and a gold plated Beryllium Copper ground contact. On the insulation side, rather than using a thick layer of metal, Prime 750s use a special polymer that also reduces the amount of metal used. The connector body is made of Brass with anti-magnetic and scratch-resistant treatment.
