This X20-DAC module will allow you to benefit from a very powerful DAC with I2S input, while being compact. X20-DAC ESS ES9028Q2M

ES9028Q2M chip for optimal performance

This module is based on an ESS ES9028Q2M converter, renowned for its excellent performance. It will ensure worry-free, high quality playback of your system, demonstrating high accuracy and clarity. This chip supports files with high sampling rates, up to 32bit 384kHe in PCM but also native DSD128 (using the X10-I2S module sold separately).

AOP NJR MUSES 8920

The X20-DAC's converter is supported by an excellent dual PDO NJR MUSES 8920. A brand renowned for its high quality PDOs. This incorporates J-FET technology with the objective of offering a sound as close as possible to the original signal. In addition, it reduces crosstalk between the two channels.

This AOP is mounted on DIP8. It can also be replaced to adapt to different listening styles.

Components

In addition to its very good ES9028Q2M converter and its AOP NJR MUSES 8920, the module also includes other quality components. You will find a TCXO 100MHz clock with ultra low phase noise, WIMA film capacitors, an ultra low noise voltage regulator, "low ESR" electrolytic capacitors from Panasonic or gold-plated RCA plugs.

A scalable DAC with the X10-I2S
(X10-I2S module sold separately).

The X20-DAC has only one I2S input and one RCA stereo output. By coupling it with the module X10-I2S the DAC gains in versatility by also equipping itself with a coaxial, Optical and I2S output as well as a USB input supported by an XMOS xCore interface. Moreover, this X10-I2S module will also make it possible to make the DAC autonomous to be able to operate it without Raspberry Pi.

Although they are still maturing, they have a very nice sound, high quality Dac panel. Easy to install. It deserves better coupling capacitors, say Elna Silmic. Unfortunately, the Volumio IS2 DAC is not listed or officially supported. Identifies Hifiberry as DAC. But it still works. It is a question of making the most of its potential. Moode, on the other hand, supports it.

DAC pour Raspberry Pi 3 et alimentation séparée AOP
J'ai acquis ce DAC pour le monter sur un Raspberry 3 B+ interfacé directement via l'I2S transmis en GPIO.
Le son est très détaillé et la séparation stéréo excellente également. Il est alimenté de mon côté directement en +15V et -15V par l'alimentation classe A de mon amplificateur intégré.

A noter que les étages d'alimentation de l'AOP sont totalement indépendants de ceux du Raspberry PI, du DAC et de l'horloge TCXO. Vous pouvez donc tout à fait laissé alimenté la partie 5V et coupé les alimentations +- 15V de l'AOP.

Le système est assez modulaire pour permettre différents schémas de branchement et d'alimentation ce qui est un plus non négligeable.

Côté logiciel, cela tourne très bien sur piCore player avec le driver ESS9023 et squeezelite. La mise en oeuvre est rapide et aussi simple que pour d'autres DAC que j'ai également (Hifiberry + Max2Play).
