Very capable dac/preamp
I have listened to this dac and preamp for over two weeks now and can say that the dual rohm chip latest version is very smooth sounding with good detail and dynamics. When used as a preamp it is also very capable but can be improved upon if you have a better quality stand alone preamp. It may be beneficial for some to have more selection of i2s settings as there are only two which may or may not match your source i2s format. I have found that in the sound mode settings that mode 1 is more to my liking. The remote control is all aluminum and better quality than the usual plastic kind. Audiophonics were also very helpful in updating to the latest firmware 2.01 before it was shipped and I thank them for this.
