Great connectivity, good functionality
Pleasant unit, good clear sound. If you are looking for a modern DAC with a little extra in the base and detailed sound that is a bit smoother than most Sabre DACs, this might be for you. in my case, I didn't like the sound signature and did not feel like an upgrade for me. In the end I went with Denafrips Enyo instead.

Excellent DAC - perhaps where diminishing returns really kick in.
Bass extends down, and highs are pristine. The sound stage is very wide, with good depth depending on the recording. Perhaps best of all is an 'infectious' quality. This is definitely a step from my previous ES9038Q2M equipped units, and ZEN DAC 2. I also tried a Topping Centaurus, and while I can appreciate many liking the presentation, and slight lushness even on broadcast voices in particular, my point is that the SMSL Raw-DAC 1 renders music equally validly ... but different. Extra and varied inputs a bonus.
