Excellent as monoblocks
I bought 2 amps to use as monoblocks. I previously used an SMSL PA-X in stereo; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough. That is why I immediately tried the monoblock configuration with these amps. It was promising the first time, but it needed about a 50-hour break-in period to show its true sound character. The amps were connected to my Sonus Faber Guarneri (the original version) loudspeakers. This configuration has excellent spatial resolution, well-defined instruments, and a deep, wide soundstage. You can hear the microdetails and the microdynamics of a good recording. The sound isn't warm, but it isn't tiring either. I could compare them to my VAC Avatar integrated amp, which is in another league. Of course, the VAC sounds considerably better, but they are not far apart. The VMV A1 Pro monoblocks have an even wider, deeper soundstage. And they don't heat my listening room in summer.
