The Aune N7D impressed me from the very first moment. Its sound is exceptionally spacious, natural, and effortless. Instruments are clearly separated, vocals sound lifelike and engaging, and the overall presentation feels refined and immersive.
What impressed me the most, however, was the bass performance. It reaches incredibly deep while remaining perfectly controlled and highly textured. Rather than simply adding impact, it reveals subtle layers and nuances, giving the music remarkable authority and realism. With a good pair of headphones, the result is a powerful yet highly detailed sound that never feels exaggerated.
The build quality is equally impressive. The solid, heavy chassis immediately conveys the feeling of a thoughtfully engineered, premium product.
Unfortunately, I had to return my unit because it developed a technical fault. That does not change my opinion of its sonic performance. The Aune N7D is one of the most impressive DAC/headphone amplifiers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Had my unit been flawless and included an optical input, it would almost certainly have become my permanent desktop setup.
