Gagne beaucoup avec une alimentation linéaire externe
J’utilise le transport CD SMSL directement relié au hub WiSA de mes enceintes actives Buchardt. Au début, les aigus étaient assez stridents, mais ce caractère s’est atténué après quelques heures de rodage. J’ai ensuite nettement pu améliorer la qualité sonore en remplaçant l’alimentation interne par une alimentation linéaire externe (PD Creative). Le rendu est alors devenu plus spatialisé et plus précis, et les stridences initiales ont complètement disparu.

Seul bémol : la correction d’erreurs de lecture est médiocre. La moindre poussière ou de très légères rayures sur le CD s’entendent sous forme de craquements à l’écoute.

The product is very nice and well made, but it has a problem: when you turn it on, it pops, and that can damage the speakers. I don't understand how it still has that problem in 2025.

Small device - big sound
A very good sounding and funny transport. Compared to my Sony CDP-XA20ES (also used as transport) it has a bit more airy sound with bigger soundstage. Also sounds slightly better than my Holo Red streamer (with Volumio).
Positives: very good sound, superb finish, real plug & play (also with USB)
Negatives: extremely angle-sensitive remote with strange formed back panel, doesn’t read CD after switching from USB to CD input (needs restart), a bit shallow grip on the lid for bigger hands

Solid performer
This CD-ransport is a solid, reliable performer. This may sound a little boring, but it is really a high praise. The SMSL faithfully reproduces whatever music is in the "groove" with no hanky-panky and no colouring, both classical and rock/pop. They have spent the money where it matters, not wasting anything on fancy gadgets. If you wamt an honest, faithfull reproduction this is for you. Highly recommended.
