Small device - big sound
A very good sounding and funny transport. Compared to my Sony CDP-XA20ES (also used as transport) it has a bit more airy sound with bigger soundstage. Also sounds slightly better than my Holo Red streamer (with Volumio).
Positives: very good sound, superb finish, real plug & play (also with USB)
Negatives: extremely angle-sensitive remote with strange formed back panel, doesn’t read CD after switching from USB to CD input (needs restart), a bit shallow grip on the lid for bigger hands

Solid performer
This CD-ransport is a solid, reliable performer. This may sound a little boring, but it is really a high praise. The SMSL faithfully reproduces whatever music is in the "groove" with no hanky-panky and no colouring, both classical and rock/pop. They have spent the money where it matters, not wasting anything on fancy gadgets. If you wamt an honest, faithfull reproduction this is for you. Highly recommended.
