This DAC designed around the PCM5122, supporting sampling rates up to 32bit 384kHz, makes it possible to overcome the main problem of the Raspberry Pi Zero: the jitter. Indeed, the clocks coming from the Raspberry are generated by its processor, producing a high jitter. With the MiniBoss, the Raspberry transmits only the data (DATA) and the DAC takes care of the clocks to drastically decrease the jitter.
More than that, it's also the power model that was thought to reduce the noise generated by separating and filtering the digital, analog and clock stages. The signal is then filtered again with LDOs in order to lower the noise even further. Finally, thejitter is also diminished again thanks to Japanese NDK oscillators.
On the analog stage, the Texas Instrument chip is powered by a discrete DC power supply. A supercapacitor comes to allow it a power gain when the analog stage requires it, especially for deep bass.
