I bought this DAC as an addition to my system following an advice from one of the most experienced audiophiles of my country. I asked for the best DAC around 1000 euro.
My setup: Spendor A7 speakers, Unison Research Unico Secondo amp with Sylvania NOS tubes, Eversolo DMP A6 streamer, AQ Rocket 44 speaker cables, Synergistic Research Basik XLR.
I replaced the internal DAC of Eversolo A6 by this Audio-gd R1 NOS hoping to get a better sound than the detailed but thin sound and the bloated bass. I bought also a Neotech Neub-1020 OCC silver USB cable to connect the new DAC.
I listened for three months and the conclusions are:
-much fuller bodied sound
-clear on all frequencies from deep bass, superb medium to highest hights
-natural voices like real singers
-tight round bass
-scaled music from delicate to blow your speaker rock
-sense of dark silent back
-sense of space between instruments
-sense of big sound.
Of course, good sound is obtained only when the speakers are proper positioned and angled, beside good gear.
Totally happy with this DAC. Audio-gd is not about marketing but about real quality.
Recommended.
