I bought the LHY lps 160 to replace a Burson supercharger, which produced an audible hum when combined with a Burson Funk amplifier.
The LHY got rid of the noise from the Burson SMPS.
Bass tones got more accentuated. Mid tones got more real, sounded less like records.
I also tried both the Burson and the LHY on a Moon LP110 II phono pre amp.
Again, the mid tones got more natural and the bass got lower on the LHY.
With the Burson supercharger powering the Moon, there were no noise problems. I liked the timbre better on the LHY, but the Burson produced a stronger sense of rythm and had better instrument seperation. Both PSUs were a nice upgrade over the standard SMPSU that shipped with the Moon LP 110 II, with each bringing their own advantages.
I recommend the LHY LPS as a nice lineair power supply with low noise levels for a good price.
