I needed a small CD-player for a pair of active speakers and chose this one after reading around the Internet for a couple of days.
I decided to order from Audiophonics because they had the most sensible price (in Europe) and, apparently, excelllent service. And the player arrived here excellently packaged and quickly. I'm very happy with Audiophonics' service! Thank you!
The player also turned out to be excelllent. I have 4 other CD players (three Marantz, two of which are top of the line) and one (older) Teac. This Shanling performs equally well (!) and is just fun to "play with".
If anyone is reading this, the build-quality is excellent (the remote not so much, which you have to unscrew to replace the battery), the sound is excellent and it is a small hefty enough machine to exude a feeling of trust.
It would have been nice to have an English language instruction manual (the one provided is in Chinese), but I don't even know if one exists.
Iwould have only needed it to figure out the USB specifications, because, apparently, that part of he player's functions adheres to age-old standards (in regard to number of tracks, folder management, etc.). I still haven't figured that out in detail, but putting an album or two onto a USB stick (flat) results in quality sound! But, in regard to implementation, it seems to be more of a gimmick because display notifications are minimal (at least for my tagged files).
All in all, at a price of around (or below) $200, an excellent little machine whose longevity I cannot comment on yet. At the moment I'm quite sure that it will last for a long time.
