The Dunu Mortise is an open-back dynamic headphone designed to deliver wide-band sound reproduction from a 50 mm driver, utilising a carbon fibre diaphragm to combine structural rigidity with low moving mass. It features a high-flux N52 magnetic circuit combined with a W-shaped diaphragm geometry and independent suspension, which stabilises movement whilst reducing distortion, resulting in a more linear response and low distortion.
This approach is further enhanced by the incorporation of black walnut shells, whose density and damping properties help to control unwanted resonance whilst lending the headphones a stunning visual finish.
Dunu Mortise: Carbon fibre speaker
The 50 mm dynamic driver features an ultra-thin carbon fibre diaphragm, whose high rigidity minimises distortion whilst maintaining a low mass, thereby improving transient accuracy and the reproduction of fine details. This design is complemented by a W-shaped diaphragm profile combined with an independent suspension, allowing for finer control of excursion and reduced distortion during significant movements.
The system is supported by a high-flux N52 magnetic circuit, which increases the control force applied to the diaphragm, resulting in improved bass response and more stable dynamics. In addition to the driver, the open-back design reduces internal pressure and interference, thereby widening the soundstage whilst maintaining a precise and well-defined spatial image.
Dunu Mortise: Carrying comfort
The headphone’s design features an adaptive suspension headband, which distributes pressure evenly and ensures a secure fit without causing undue pressure. This design is complemented by memory foam ear pads that mould to the contours of the face, guaranteeing consistent comfort whilst maintaining acoustic balance over time.
