HiFi DAP Audio Player DAC 2x AK4493 32bit 768kHz DSD256
Shanling presents its new high-end DAP, the M5s. This portable music player with a double DAC AK4493EQ and two AOP AD8397, as well as many high-end components, has been designed to allow you to enjoy your music in very high quality, wherever you are.
Dual AK4493EQ DAC...
The conversion stage of the M5s is based on a pair of AK4493EQ chips. This new generation of 32bit AKM DAC with Velvet Sound™ technology provides an extremely low level of distortion and a wide dynamic range. Incorporating an OSR Doubler filter, the DAC supports a wide range of sampling rates, up to 32bit 768kHz and DSD256, while ensuring low noise and pure sound reproduction. Each of the M5s DACs is accompanied by two Panasonic Tantalum Polymetallic capacitors, allowing a filtering of the power supply and therefore a higher SNR as well as an even lower distortion.
...and dual ADI AD8397 OPA
The amplification circuit carries two ADI AD8397 operational amplifiers. These offer low distortion and high output current, up to 310mA at 32 Ohm. They also provide a wide dynamic range for powerful and accurate sound reproduction.
The PDOs are accompanied by two ELNA film capacitors and two Panasonic Tantalum Polymer capacitors for less noise, as well as 0.01% tolerance resistors and ultra stable COG capacitors.
Hi-Res certification
The M5s has been awarded Hi-Res certification by the Japan Audio Society. This certification ensures that the product supports files at sampling frequencies and quantification at least equal to or greater than 24bit 48kHz. It is therefore the assurance of a product capable of supporting high-resolution files and therefore ensuring superior playback quality. And if the minimum to obtain this certification is 24bit 48kHz, the M5s does not stop there since it supports files up to 32bit 768kHz !
More than complete connectivity
Shanling's M5s personal music player offers particularly complete connectivity, allowing you to scan most applications. Thus, DAP takes advantage of WiFi by integrating DLNA and Airplay protocols, and allows the import of audio files from music streaming services such as QQmusic or Tidal. Firmware updates have also been simplified, as they can be performed simply via WiFi.
It also benefits from a Bluetooth module supporting LDAC, aptX and AAC technologies. These advanced technologies make it possible to offer a high quality listening experience while enjoying the convenience of Bluetooth. Thus, Sony's LDAC codec allows high quality audio files to be transmitted in 16bit 44.1kHz without damaging the signal, even in 24bit 96kHz with slight compression. Qualcomm's aptX supports 16bit 44.1kHz files with slight compression, for a bandwidth of 352kbps. It should be noted that Bluetooth is bi-directional and will therefore allow the DAP to function as a player or transmitter, to stream your music directly to a Bluetooth device or speakers.
On the physical connector side, there is a 3.5mm Jack connector and a 2.5mm Jack connector. One is the balanced audio output, the other is unbalanced. The USB-C connector allows it to load the DAP or transfer files to it at the same time. As it is a bi-directional connection system, it also allows the M5s to be used as an external DAC.
MTouch OS 2.0
For its software layer, Shanling's newborn baby is carrying the brand new version of the operating system designed by the manufacturer, MTouch OS 2.0. It builds on the strengths of the first version of the OS while improving the user experience through improved ergonomics and design as well as increased fluidity. As a result, it will be very easy for you to enjoy your music or the many features of the device.
Design et ergonomics
The M5s offers a beautiful and smooth design thanks to a metal body with rounded edges for a more comfortable grip. On the screen side, there is a beautiful 3.2" LG touchscreen, protected by a solid glass and treated to limit fingerprints that could affect its readability. And while the M5s features many high-end technologies and components, it is nevertheless compact and lightweight with dimensions of 59 x 16 x 117mm and a weight of only 178g. Perfect to accompany you throughout your travels!
Autonomy
The components chosen by the brand, if they are efficient, also have the advantage of low consumption. As a result, the battery integrated in the DAP allows it to operate for 17 hours on unbalanced output, 10 hours on symmetrical output and up to 45 days on standby! It is therefore quite possible to listen to your music throughout the day while enjoying the rich and faithful reproduction of the M5s.
Components
The M5s therefore includes two very good DAC AKM AK4493EQ, but to provide such high audio performance, it is also equipped with many high quality components designed for audio. There are 2 low noise KDS Jappan phase clocks allowing to reduce the jitter largely or an FPGA programmed by Shanling allowing a restoration of the signal for a purer sound.
The low-pass filter of the walkman is equipped with two dual-channel AOP TI OPA1612. These are integrated on independent circuits to limit crosstalk between channels. The components are integrated on a PCB with gold tracks and the device has a copper shielding to limit electromagnetic interference and therefore noise.
