Rubidium atomic clock reference / 384kHz oscillator 32-bit DSD 512
This master clock is only designed for AURALIC G2 DAC Series. Its special technology does not allow it to operate with other models of DAC.
Unlike conventional reclockering and PLL, LEO GX function is not to synchronize or correct the DAC clock signal.
When used in conjunction with DAC G2, this precision clock completely replaces the DAC inner clock. Thus avoiding all sound imperfections and artifacts that come with regular reclocking techniques.
With LEO GX, any G2 DAC works exclusively with an atomic clock signal, which is a serious performance upgrade. This unique approach overcomes all clock-induced limitations encountered at the digital to analog conversion level.
The result is a significant improvement in dynamics, in the sound stage width and in the precisions of micro-details.
When the LEO GX is connected to a DAC G2, the circuit entirely bypasses the DAC's integrated clock.
This approach is particularly beneficial in an audio context where almost all high quality DACs merely operate with a modest internal clock or a PLL vector. This clock substitution definitely overcomes the traditional limitations of the most advanced DACs to provide a deep and rich sound restitution.
As far as hardware is concerned, LEO GX works with two rubidium atomic clocks with compensated temperature. These components are among the highest level reference clocks.
Each of these rubidium clocks is paired to a SC oscillator (Stress Compensated) very low phase noise, taking advantage of a excellent warm-up stability as well as a particular resistance to vibration and to temperature.
Both technologies let LEO GX combine extreme precision, high frequencies (44.1 and 90.316MHZ to 98.304MHz signals for 48K signals) and very low phase noise.
This double pair structure build on a rubidium atomic clock is found in advanced electronic applications (TV broadcasting stations, GSM / GPS wide relay, ... etc.). It offers levels of accuracy well above the commercial audio standards.
Overall design has been optimised to enhance all electronic qualities of the device
Circuits are physically separated from one another. Control signals and clock signals are interconnected by optical fiber rather than standard electrical conductor to prevent the capture of interferences.
The installation of the circuit in frame and the housing itself have been subjected to ultra-precise balancing work in order to optimize absorption and elimination of unwanted vibrations.
Auralic equipped LEO GX master clock with two linear power supplies separated by galvanic isolation.
Thus, the internal processor and the clock circuit each operate on a different power line. This significantly limits interference between the two circuits in favor of an ever greater audio accuracy.
The entire device is eventually mounted in an Unity frame. It scrupulously respects the aesthetic line of AURALIC G series to provide a visually harmonious sound system.
Machined from a single block of aluminum, the Unity Case is a very effective passive shielding against electromagnetic interference that may affect the smoothness of the signal. They also benefit from high strength and excellent durability.
