AUDIOPHONICS AP300-S500NC Class D Stereo Power Amplifier Ncore NC502MP 2x500W 4 Ohm
The Audiophonics AP300-S500NC is a stereo power amplifier based on an amplification module Hypex Ncore NC502MP. This solution is ideal for anyone who wants to have a large power reserve (2x500W @ 4Ω) without sacrificing sound reproduction quality. This amplifier block will be suitable for example to accompany demanding speakers, to sound large listening rooms or for studio applications requiring a large headroom without compromising the accuracy and richness of the audio message.
All components are integrated in a simple and robust 100% Aluminium housing with openings to facilitate heat dissipation. Its design also allows it to limit the impact of interference on the signal.
Audiophonics AP300-S500NC: Hypex Ncore NC502MP Amplification Board
The amplification circuit uses a Hypex Ncore NC502MP module. This is a versatile high-performance Class D amplifier which offers a tremendous power of 2x500W under a 4Ω load while taking advantage of Class D amplifiers high efficiency.
Its main characteristics are its flat frequency response regardless of load impedance, its almost frequency-independent distortion level and its ability to reject EMI interference. Its operation is based on a self-oscillating loop controlled by phase shift which does not take feedback into account except at the speaker output level.
Audiophonics AP300-S500NC: NCore Technology
NCore amplifiers are the first Class D amplifiers to approach the performance of operational amplifiers, but also to surpass them in terms of sound quality. As a result, they are able to deliver clear, rich, musical sound while remaining compact. This NCore technology combines the stability of the Hypex UcD series amplifiers with lower distortion and output impedance.
Audiophonics AP300-S500NC: SMPS Power Pupply
The NC502MP module also integrates its own power stage. It consists of a regulated half-bridge switching power supply (SMPS) with synchronous rectification on its main output rails. Compact, powerful and efficient, this power supply is particularly suitable to provide clean power to a Class D amplifier.
Its power supply can work with different voltages delivered by the various electrical networks, the power supply is indeed equipped with an automatic input voltage doubler. The NC502MP module also has an overload protection system.
Audiophonics AP300-S500NC: Connectivity
The AP300-S500NC amplifier features a 2-pole stereo RCA input on gold-plated sockets, plus a 3-pole stereo XLR input for balanced signal processing. The XLR or RCA input source is selected via two switch buttons (right and left channel). The amplifier output is made on Elecaudio BP-209 24k gold-plated speaker terminals. They also accept banana plugs or spades for quick and easy connection. A 5-12V trigger connector in 3.5mm Jack format allows to control the automatic ignition of the amplifier when integrated in a compatible system. Finally, a bistable button is used to switch the unit on and off.
Audiophonics AP300-S500NC: 100% Aluminum Case and clean lines>
The Hypex NCore NC502MP amplifier is housed in a 100% black brushed aluminum case. The thick walls of this elegantly-finished case are highly resistant, providing the components with the protection they need. The natural conduction of aluminum, together with a carefully designed air flow, helps dissipate the heat generated by the module. In addition, the acrylic front panel is screen-printed with the Audiophonics logo, and the rear with the nomenclature of each input/output. Its compact size makes it easy to integrate into any audiophile installation, offering high performance in a small space.

This is a class D beast!
I purchased the NC502MP stereo amplifier module for my dual subwoofer system, and the results have been nothing short of exceptional. The amplifier delivers immense power with absolute control – my 12” woofers are handled with surgical precision and zero distortion. Its dynamic range is astonishing, and the low end remains tight and authoritative across the 30–100 Hz range. What impressed me the most is how transparent the amp sounds – it adds no coloration or "flavor" to the signal; it simply amplifies what it receives. This is true high-fidelity performance. Integration with my MiniDSP Flex HT processor was seamless, and the system noise floor is dead silent. The build quality is excellent, the module runs cool, and power efficiency is top-notch. In my view, this amp has become the strongest link in my audio chain. If you're serious about low-end performance and high dynamic resolution, this module is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended – especially for those building custom active systems or subwoofer amplification. Thank you Audiophonics!

De la puissance et de la finesse !
J'ignore qui a dit "sans maîtrise la puissance n'est rien" (cf Pirelli TV-Ad), mais Audiophonics a tout compris en choisissant ces modules Hypex. Ce qui m'a rassuré dans mon choix, ce sont les protections que cette carte intégre en cas de surchauffe, de surtensions et court-circuits.
La team Audiiophonics a fait un excellent travail avec cet ampli. Bravo et merci à eux. Comme d'habitude, j'ai été livré en 48 h.
Après 10 jours d'écoute, avec deux types de DAC, le SMSL DO200pro et le Fosi ZD3, et à la source des fichiers numériques essentiellement - compressés au minimum : flac et mp3 à 320Kbps - pour alimenter une paire de Prestige 4i - une colonne pése 30 kg - je redécouvre mes morceaux.
Je remarque de nouveaux détails ici et là sur la totalité du spectre. C'est une grande fenêtre qui s'ouvre à moi. Par exemple, le refrain de Proud Mary version I&T. Turner ne me fait plus mal aux oreilles. À ce moment du morceau, j'avais tendance à baisser le volume, quelque soit l'ampli. Les envolées funk rock devenaient trop brillantes/bruyantes.
Mais avec le S500NC d'Audiophonics, les aigus et les medium sont doux, détaillés, aérés et jamais criards.
Et l'intro sur ce même morceau, où le couple Turner vont chanter chacun à leur tour, la première chose qu'on remarque, c'est la puissance et la maîtrise dans le bas du spectre quand Ike déroule son "rooOOOooolling". Le timbre de ce "rolling" m'a tout de suite fait penser à un vieil ampli de classe A. J'avais un Linn qui pesait 12 kg et qui chauffait une pièce de 20 m2 l'hiver mais d'une musicalité envoûtante voire mystique. Chaque note coulait comme du bon miel chaud. On avait l'impression d'être dans le studio. Ou sur la scène entre le bassiste et les choristes.
Les transitoires propres et maitrisées du S500NC rappellent la linéarité des classe A, avec du jus, de la réserve en plus et de loin un meilleur rendement. Sans compter qu'il chauffe à peine, qu'il pése 2 kg et qu'il prend très peu de place.
Pour résumer, un ampli puissant qui délivre au moins 250 W sous 8 Ohms bien propres et quasiment sans distorsion - par canal - avec un son neutre et maitrisé, des aigus fins et précis, jamais agressifs, des medium clairs et fermes et des graves bien charpentés et planants en hifi comme home-cinéma à 699 euros, avec des composants et un assemblage de qualité, dans un beau châssis ni trop petit ni trop grand, c'est un cadeau qu'on aurait tort de se refuser.
Le meilleur compromis serait un petit ampli classe D pour la TV et la musique de tous les jours et un ampli classe D XXL pour une session d'écoute hebdomadaire ou mensuelle raffinée et de qualité. Pour conclure, avec un tel ampli et avec de bonnes colonnes, un caisson de basses est superflu.

Wonderful Upgrade
I have been listening to the amp daily since I received it a few days ago. The sound is open driving an Apogee Centaur (minor) which needed a more dynamic ampt. The AP300 amp fits the bill nicely. The reverb, echo and delay in the recording creates a realistic presentation of the music. Well done audiophonics.
