ALSOZONE PAM254 4-Channel TPA3255 Power Amplifier 4x 260W 4 Ohm
The ALSOZONE PAM254 is a 4-channel Class D power amplifier based on TPA3255 circuits, designed for multichannel Hi-Fi systems requiring high power in a compact format. Each channel can deliver up to 260W into 4 Ohm at 1% THD, with a maximum power of 450W into 2 Ohm and 150W into 8 Ohm per channel. Its PBTL architecture with PFFB technology, high-efficiency GaN switching power supply and Hi-Fi components are designed to combine power, efficiency and low distortion levels. The PAM254 features individually selectable unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR/TRS inputs, two gain levels per channel, speaker outputs on terminals compatible with banana plugs, as well as a 12V Trigger input and output, allowing several devices to be daisy-chained. It also offers an Auto On/Off mode, a front-panel power control and a universal mains power supply compatible with 100-230V networks.
ALSOZONE PAM254: PBTL, PFFB Technology and GaN Power Supply
The PAM254 uses a PBTL (Parallel Bridge-Tied Load) architecture: two half-bridges are connected in parallel on each channel to increase the available current and reduce the RDS(on) resistance of the output MOSFETs. Combined with PFFB (Post Filter Feedback) technology, this design aims to maintain good audio performance with high power. At 1% THD, the amplifier reaches 450 W into 2 Ohm, 260 W into 4 Ohm and 150 W into 8 Ohm per channel; at 10% THD, the specified values are 320 W into 4 Ohm and 200 W into 8 Ohm per channel. The PAM254 supports speakers with an impedance between 2 and 16 Ohm.
The PAMX series also uses a high-efficiency GaN (Gallium Nitride) switching power supply. The PAM254 achieves a THD+N of 0.0007% into 4 Ohm and 0.0006% into 8 Ohm at 5 W, a signal-to-noise ratio of 121 dB with an unbalanced input and 124 dB with a balanced input, a frequency response of 20 Hz to 30 kHz at ±0.5 dB, noise below 20 µVrms and crosstalk of -100 dB with an unbalanced input and -110 dB with a balanced input.
ALSOZONE PAM254: Comprehensive Connectivity and Flexible Control
The PAM254 offers connectivity suited to Hi-Fi and professional sources with, for each channel, a Single-Ended RCA input and a balanced XLR/TRS input, selected by a switch. The gain level can be individually adjusted to two levels, with 23/29dB for the unbalanced input and 17/23dB for the balanced input, corresponding to input sensitivities of 2/1Vrms and 4/2Vrms respectively. The speaker outputs use terminals compatible with banana plugs.
The rear panel also features a 12V DC Trigger input via a 3.5mm jack and a Trigger Through output for transmitting the signal to another device to create a daisy-chain configuration. The Auto mode allows the amplifier to power on automatically when an audio signal is detected, then enter standby after 20 minutes without a signal. The front-panel power control takes priority over the Trigger and Auto modes.
The PAM254 also incorporates protection against overvoltage, overcurrent and overheating, as well as status and clipping LED indicators for each channel. Its steel chassis with a machined aluminium front panel measures 260 × 265 × 90mm, including 8mm feet, for a weight of 4kg.
