A particularly powerful design

The Shanling ET3 houses a high-performance dual-core Ingenic X2000 processor. This is the first chip based on XBurst2 technology, which not only enhances computing power but also enables rapid device start-up. This processor is combined with a CT7302CL upscaling chip, a Philips SAA7824 decoder and a Sanyo HD850 optical drive, delivering excellent playback performance and high-quality sound reproduction.

MQA / MQA-CD Decoder

The Shanling ET3 incorporates an MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) decoder, enabling it to read this type of file, offering sound reproduction as close as possible to the original recording. A rarer feature, it is also capable of reading and decoding the MQA-CD format.

Complete connectors and connectivity

The ET3 is equipped with a particularly complete range of digital output connectors. The rear panel features USB-A, I2S on HDMI port, AES/EBU, optical and coaxial outputs. This connectivity is complemented by wireless connectivity, with an antenna on the rear of the device ensuring stable transmission.

Wireless connectivity & Control app

The Shanling ET3 also benefits from wireless connectivity, incorporating a Bluetooth 5.0 chip supporting high-resolution aptX, aptX HD and LDAC codecs, as well as dual-band WiFi supporting DLNA and AirPlay protocols. This makes it possible to control and stream music remotely, from a smartphone for example, using the free Eddict Player mobile application.

Screen

The front of the Shanling ET3 features an attractive circular IPS display. Stylish and practical, it displays playback information, selected source and volume level in real time. What's more, if the file being played comes from a USB stick and the album cover is available, it will be displayed. The screen also provides access to all player parameters.

Amazing drive
This drive has been around a while so I knew what I was buying.

Either way I was surprised how well the drive works with my Holo Spring 3 DAC using I2s (Alt 2 setting). As it’s NOS, I keep all SRC off.

I’ve got experience with Nuprime 8CDT pro drive and the Shanling ET3 is way better, both mechanically and electrically. The set matches and sometimes surpasses my streaming set, so I’m seriously considering using the ET3 for streaming too.

The best part is that I can buy used CDs for a couple of euros and get the best part of the sound I get from my $$$ vinyl rig without buying overpriced vinyl!
