The FiFoPi Ultimate from Ian Canada was designed to significantly reduce the jitter of the digital audio signal produced by a Raspberry Pi, before it can be transmitted back to your DAC. To do this, the module follows a 3-step process:

  1. Buffering and reclocking of the digital audio signal using clocks (49.1520MHz and 45.1584MHz) and weak jitter logic components. This step allows you not to depend on the clock not dedicated to the audio of the Raspberry Pi which generates jitter to work. Indeed, the Raspberry Pi clock must perform a non-integral division in order to convert its operating frequency into an audio-related clock frequency. The clocks integrated in the FiFoPi module are bracket-mounted and can therefore easily be replaced by even more efficient models.
  2. FiFoPi uses built-in galvanic isolation to isolate the reclocking process and your DAC from the noise generated by the data processing performed by your Raspberry Pi due to the use of a DC-DC converter.
  3. Reclocker Module FIFO PCM 32bit 768kHz DSD1024 DoPL's use of a high quality power supply separate from the Raspberry Pi (sold separately) for the reclocking process and clocks allows the FiFoPi to produce a very low jitter digital audio stream. Just as you can choose the quality of the clocks, you can select the power supply of your choice.

The module is Raspberry Pi HAT compatible, allowing extremely simple integration. It supports I2S PCM up to 768kHz, native DSD up to DSD1024 and integrates a DiP decoder allowing the reader to enjoy the DSD from a PCM I2S signal provided by the GPIO of the Raspberry Pi. A lossless 16bit to 32bit PCM I2S converter allows FiFoPi to work with DACs that do not support 16bit I2S PCM formats. The module also integrates two isolated power inputs to provide clean power to both the FiFoPi and Raspberry Pi with the presence of an isolated GPIO connector.

The delivered FiFoPi Q2 is an updated version of the FiFoPi with improvements to optimize the signal quality.

The FiFoPi works with all external HAT DACs and DACs using a synchronous master clock (Sync Mode) to reduce jitter.

Great idea but no support
I purchased this after reading Ian's posts demonstrating that it worked with Buffalo III DAC. I have not been able to get these two boards to work together. After reaching out for support over a period of weeks there have been some replies but none simply describing how to configure and connect these two devices. Great idea but of no use without support.

Perfect way to transport your audio onto your dac!
This module is the absolute best way to transfer your audio from your Raspberry Pi (or other single board computer). This modules enables you to upgrade the very important clocks (for instance with ACCULUSION clocks). The module is extendable with other products from Ian Canada or can transpass the audio onto your dac via I2S.
