Gustard X26
Balanced DAC 2x ES9038Pro GPLL-M1 32Bit 768kHz DSD512 Noir
The Gustard X26 is a high-end DAC that is both versatile and delivers excellent audio performance thanks to its uncompromising design. Using only high-end audio components, this converter is optimized to deliver rich, accurate, dynamic sound that is as close as possible to the original signal.
Since the Gustard X26 uses a recent USB ESS interface, the DAC is not yet compatible with Open Source playback solutions such as Volumio or Daphile.
Dual ES9038Pro DAC
At the heart of the X26, two DAC ESS ES9038Pro chips are used for digital-to-analog conversion. Each channel has its own conversion chip and power supply to provide the best possible audio performance. These chips also support high sampling rates, ranging from the Gustard X26 to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512 on USB and I2S inputs.
These chips are accompanied by an LPF Class A with only discrete components, specifically optimized for the DAC ES9038Pro.
GPLL-M1 & CPLD
The X26's main PCB is topped by a high-precision phase-locked loop module offering extremely low residual phase noise and an ultra-low clock signal jitter. Thanks to a complex algorithm, the jitter removal performance of the X26 is excellent.
The Master Clock of the DAC ES9038Pro is also provided by the GPLL module, operating synchronously to bypass internal ASRC resampling.
Logical functions are assigned to a CPLD, including a clock management system, a second PLL digital processing, DoP decoding and many other functions that play an important role in the X26's performance.
Filters & SHARC DSP
The Gustard X26 offers several digital filters, PCM and DSD, to adapt the sound reproduction to your listening and audio system, while reducing residual noise.
In order to offer high quality filters, Gustard has chosen to develop its own filters using a DSP Analog Device SHARC chip. This solution incorporates an anti-aliasing algorithm designed by Gustard, using a high-precision 64bit floating point system. In addition, this algorithm has been optimized to work perfectly with the ESS DACs and ensure the best possible sound quality.
Power supply
The power supply of the X26 uses two toroidal transformers, a discrete hybrid I/V conversion circuit composed of 8 channels. This makes it possible to provide the entire system with a consistent, extremely clean and stable power supply, which is essential for high-quality sound reproduction.
In addition, each channel of the X26's analog circuit uses an independent power rail to limit interference and noise.
Connectivity
The Gustard X26 benefits from a complete connectivity capable of adapting to many audio systems. It includes USB-B, I2S LVDS on HDMI, Coaxial, AES and Optics inputs. On the output side, the X26 offers balanced XLR and unbalanced stereo RCA. Note that the analog circuit of the device uses a symmetrical architecture without conversion with a total separation of the two outputs.
