The FiiO JM21 is an Android 13 DAP designed to deliver high-resolution audio playback in an open application environment, while relying on an internal architecture geared towards signal stability. It features a Snapdragon 680 8-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz, based on the Kryo 265 architecture, which manages the system and applications without taxing the audio stages, thereby preserving the consistency of the digital stream upstream of conversion.
Designed for mobile or hybrid audiophile setups, it combines a Cirrus Logic CS43198 dual conversion with symmetrical amplification delivering 700mW + 700mW into 32 ohms, allowing it to power headphones of varying sensitivities while maintaining precise control thanks to three gain levels. This approach is extended by a partitioned internal architecture, separate power supplies for the digital and analogue sections, and a customised Android 13 integrating the DAPS process, enabling seamless integration into a wired or wireless system, supported by 16 hours of battery life in unbalanced output mode, 12.5 hours of balanced output, and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity compatible with LDAC, LHDC, aptX HD, aptX, AAC, and SBC.
The FiiO JM21 is powered by a Snapdragon 680 processor, featuring eight cores clocked at 2.4GHz and based on the Kryo 265 architecture, to ensure system and application management without compromising audio stream stability. This computing power maintains a responsive interface and smooth execution of Android services, while limiting digital processing to a control role.

The amplification stage uses a symmetrical circuit that delivers a final output power of 700mW + 700mW into 32 ohms, allowing it to efficiently power a wide variety of headphones. This topology aims to maintain a stable current reserve while limiting channel imbalances. For those who switch between different transducers, the JM21 incorporates three gain levels, allowing precise adjustment of dynamics and volume, while maintaining control suitable for both sensitive headphones and more demanding models.
Digital-to-analogue conversion is based on two Cirrus Logic CS43198 DACs, combined with two SGM8262 operational amplifiers in a fully symmetrical architecture, in order to process each channel independently. This configuration supports streams up to PCM 384kHz and DSD256, while ensuring stable and consistent signal conversion. Beyond standalone playback, this approach is extended by the presence of a USB port, allowing the JM21 to be used as an external DAC.

The internal architecture of the JM21 is based on a physical separation of the control, conversion and amplification sections, each with its own shielding to limit interference and signal contamination. This design contains the disturbances generated by the digital section while preserving the stability of the analogue stages. In line with this, the digital and analogue sections have separate power supplies.
The FiiO JM21 runs on Android 13, allowing the installation of all applications compatible with the Android ecosystem. This version is customized by FiiO and incorporates a process called DAPS, designed to prevent audio source degradation associated with sample rate conversions (SRC). This approach allows the audio stream to be maintained in its native format, while retaining the flexibility of an open application environment.

The battery life reaches 16 hours of continuous music playback in single ended output mode, while symmetrical output allows for up to 12.5 hours of continuous listening, depending on the mode of use. This energy management complements the player's internal architecture, balancing amplification power and listening time. This versatility allows for extended sessions, whether on the go or in a more sedentary listening environment.
Wireless connectivity is based on Bluetooth 5.0, supporting LDAC, LHDC, aptX HD, aptX, AAC, and SBC codecs, allowing audio transmission to be adapted to different compatible devices. This extensive compatibility allows for flexible integration into wired or wireless systems, while maintaining functional consistency with the player's internal capabilities. This approach complements the JM21's positioning as a versatile audio source, capable of fitting into a variety of configurations.
