The miniDSP UMIK‑X in UMA‑4 configuration is a multi-channel, multi-point acoustic measurement system designed for synchronised sound field analysis, based on compact networks of omnidirectional MEMS microphones interfaced via a USB‑A2B connection. Each UMA-4 module combines four low-distortion, high-SPL Knowles MEMS capsules, allowing for the creation of sets of 4 to 16 active microphones depending on the number of modules chained together, while maintaining 24bit resolution at 44.1 or 48kHz. This architecture is based on the Analog Devices A2B protocol, ensuring simultaneous transport of multichannel audio and power over a single cable up to 40 metres, guaranteeing strict temporal consistency between measurement points without the need for complex cabling.
Beyond pure performance, the UMA-4 approach favours controlled measurement geometry, with the four microphones integrated into a rigid matrix with fixed spacing, enabling immediate reproducibility of capture conditions. This mechanical stability translates into direct implementation for close-proximity multipoint measurements, while maintaining channel response homogeneity, an essential condition for the use of spatial analysis algorithms. This approach extends to room calibration, multi-channel equalisation and distributed subwoofer adjustment applications, where priority is given to consistency and speed of acquisition rather than extreme freedom of deployment.

Designed for advanced home measurement installations and distributed acoustic monitoring environments, the UMIK‑X combines hardware scalability, software compatibility and operational stability, enabling centralised multi-channel acquisition on a UAC‑2 interface, without drivers on macOS and Linux, and with a dedicated ASIO driver on Windows. This integration is enhanced by native compatibility with the multi-channel measurement functions of Room EQ Wizard (v5.20 and later), with the corresponding licence included, positioning the UMIK-X UMA-4 as a structuring tool for synchronised measurement, designed to be a permanent part of a scalable acoustic analysis and optimisation system.
