The SM1.3R’s design follows the standard set by their MCD1.3 CD player and features the same minimalist aesthetic, allowing it to blend seamlessly into any interior. The aluminium body with rounded corners, the glass top panel, and the inclusion of a 5.8-inch 1080p touchscreen combine to create a device that is both elegant and robust.

Designed to be both comprehensive and user-friendly, the SM1.3R comes with a range of built-in streaming apps, including Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Apple Music, Apple Classical, Presto Music and KKBox. It is also compatible with DLNA, AirPlay 2, Roon Ready, Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect, ensuring easy access to your music. Finally, you can also connect the SM1.3 to your NAS thanks to Samba support.

Shanling SM1.3R: Cutting-edge audio signal processing

The SM1.3R features the second generation of Shanling’s in-house developed 2R2 DAC, based on a fully discrete topology. The circuit comprises a total of 212 resistors matched to 0.01%, distributed across four channels to achieve 24-bit conversion.

In this architecture, 19 bits are dedicated to the actual conversion, whilst 4 bits are used to compensate for residual errors and 1 bit drives a push-pull differential circuit, which balances the positive and negative half-cycles of the signal. This hierarchical allocation optimises low-level accuracy whilst stabilising the dynamic behaviour.

The line output, featuring a MUSES8920 operational amplifier, can also be used as a preamplifier, whilst a 6.35 mm headphone output with a dedicated TPA6120 operational amplifier provides high-quality headphone amplification.

Shanling SM1.3R: ACCUSILICON internal clocks

For maximum precision, the SM1.3R features ACCUSILICON clocks (45.1584 MHz and 49.152 MHz), which are essential for high-resolution audio decoding. Combined with Shanling’s AGLO (Android Global Lossless Output) system, they ensure bit-perfect sound reproduction, even on an Android platform.

Shanling SM1.3R: Eddict Player app

The Eddict Player app, available on Android and iOS, has been redesigned to offer an experience similar to that of the SM1.3R interface. It allows you to control the device remotely as if you were interacting with it directly, making it even more intuitive to use.
