iFi Audio iDSD Phantom Streamer DAC Burr‑Brown DSD1793 32bit 768kHz DSD512 Class A Headphone Amplifier
The iFi Audio iDSD Phantom is a network receiver, DAC, and headphone amplifier designed around a quad Burr-Brown DSD1793 DAC and paired with a switchable Class A amplifier stage, offering J-FET or tube amplification for 4676mW RMS power. The iDSD Phantom can therefore act as the nerve center of your Hi-Fi system, receiving signals up to PCM 32-bit 768kHz and DSD512 before processing and amplifying them, while ensuring they are perfectly suited to your equipment.
iFi Audio iDSD Phantom : Quad Burr-Brown DSD1793 DAC
The iDSD Phantom incorporates four Burr-Brown DSD1793 chips, configured to ensure stable conversion and precise channel separation. It supports PCM streams up to 32-bit 768 kHz as well as DSD512, enabling direct playback of high-resolution content.
Beyond this native compatibility, the device allows internal upsampling to DSD2048, applied upstream of the analog conversion in order to optimize the internal operation of the DACs. This approach aims to refine signal processing while preserving the original data.
The integration of K2 and K2HD technologies extends this work by acting on the harmonic coherence and micro-dynamics of PCM streams, improving the perceived continuity of recordings from digital masters.
iFi Audio iDSD Phantom : Dual Class A amplification circuit
The headphone stage is based on two separate Class A circuits, allowing you to select the amplification topology according to the desired signature. A J-FET transistor circuit favors a precise and direct sound, while a NOS GE5670 tube stage offers a warmer and smoother result.
This architecture delivers up to 4676mW RMS, ensuring sufficient power reserves for high-impedance headphones as well as low-sensitivity models, while maintaining stable performance at sustained listening levels.
Three amplification modes allow you to adjust the final sound. Solid-State mode uses only transistors for analytical reproduction, Tube mode activates tube amplification for a smoother sound, while Tube+ mode accentuates the harmonic signature of the tube circuit for a more distinctive result.
iFi Audio iDSD Phantom : Network receiver
The iDSD Phantom provides native compatibility with Qobuz Connect, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, and AirPlay 2, allowing playback to be controlled directly from the relevant service apps, while entrusting conversion to the device's internal architecture.
The iFi Nexis app allows remote control of settings and operating modes, extending network integration through a centralized interface.
iFi Audio iDSD Phantom : XBass
The XBass system incorporates equalization focused on controlled bass frequency enhancement, compensating for any lack of bass extension depending on the headphones used.
When the function is activated, three profiles are available: a boost centered around 10Hz to support sub-bass below 40Hz, an accentuation around 20Hz suitable for headphones lacking depth below 80Hz, and an intervention around 40Hz designed to reinforce the range below 160Hz. This correction acts in a targeted manner, allowing the tonal balance to be adjusted without affecting the entire spectrum.
