A matter of taste
Great DAC, measures excellent and sounds very refined. From my experience it fits systems rather with relaxed highs because this kind of Cirrus-based DAC has it's own clarity. Mid region, mid tones and vocals aren't that emphasized like with an AKM DAC, bass is well-controlled. Top quality overall and the simultaneous use of XLR and RCA outs make this an amazing "preamp" too (in PRE-mode) for e.g. a 2.1/2.2 system (where you feed your sub/subs from the RCA outs while main system is fed from XLR). All-in-all, a neutral, precise sound without much emotion. It just doesn't has its own sound. Some people like this, some not. A matter of taste. For us it lifted a bit on the highs which came very handy so we give it 5 stars.
