The FiiO FT1 Pro is an open-back headphone featuring planar magnetic drivers, designed for high-fidelity audio reproduction. It utilises a 95 x 86mm driver developed in-house to deliver a frequency response ranging from 7Hz to 40kHz. It utilises an ultra-thin 1µm diaphragm combined with a dual-layer aluminium and sapphire structure, simultaneously optimising responsiveness, conductivity and mechanical stability, resulting in improved transient accuracy and enhanced resolution across the entire frequency spectrum.
FiiO FT1 Pro: Planar magnetic driver developed by FiiO
The FiiO FT1 Pro features a 95 x 86mm planar magnetic driver developed entirely in-house, utilising a PET diaphragm just 1µm thick to minimise moving mass. This thinness accelerates response times whilst improving transient accuracy, resulting in a clearer reproduction of note attacks and decays, whilst the extended frequency response from 7Hz to 40kHz ensures broad coverage of the audible spectrum and beyond, promoting a more complete perception of harmonic information.
FiiO FT1 Pro: Double-layered membrane
The diaphragm features a dual-layer coating combining aluminium and sapphire, whereby the aluminium improves the conductivity of the printed circuit directly on the surface, thereby reducing impedance and facilitating signal flow, whilst the sapphire stiffens the structure to limit mechanical distortion. This approach stabilises the diaphragm’s behaviour at high frequencies, resulting in more defined treble and better separation of micro-details, whilst maintaining extended dynamics across the entire spectrum.
FiiO FT1 Pro: Uniform magnetic circuit
The FT1 Pro incorporates proprietary magnetic technology developed by FiiO designed to ensure a uniform magnetic field across the entire active surface of the diaphragm, thereby guaranteeing a constant driving force. This uniformity reduces distortion caused by variations in the magnetic flux, whilst improving signal tracking accuracy, resulting in a more detailed sound reproduction and greater stability, even during complex passages or at high volumes.
FiiO FT1 Pro: A headphones that’s easy to handle
Despite utilising a planar magnetic design, which often requires a high current supply, the FT1 Pro features an impedance of 20Ω combined with a sensitivity of 122dB, making it easy to drive from a variety of sources. This configuration allows for direct use with portable players or audio interfaces without dedicated amplification, whilst maintaining sufficient dynamic range to preserve the impact and clarity of the signal.
FiiO FT1 Pro: Comfort
The mechanical design features a lightweight construction weighing just 374g, distributed via a suede headband that optimises weight distribution to minimise pressure points. This approach is complemented by a 12-level adjustment system and angle-adjustable ear cups, allowing the headphone position to be precisely adjusted, whilst the breathable foam promotes air circulation, thereby reducing heat build-up during prolonged listening sessions.
FiiO FT1 Pro: Silver-plated cable included
The FT1 Pro comes with two silver-plated OFC copper cables, where the copper ensures stable signal transmission whilst the silver plating improves surface conductivity, facilitating the passage of high frequencies and minimising signal loss. This design preserves signal integrity across the entire bandwidth, whilst the dual termination – 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm jacks – allows for use in both unbalanced and balanced connections, thus adapting to different listening setups.
