The Ian Canada UcDumper enables ultracapacitors to be safely discharged for the purpose of removing or replacing them from the supply circuit in which they are used. This small discharge module features an intelligent current-limiting function, and is simply operated via wire connection with the cables supplied.
Take care not to touch any hot surfaces when the UcDumper is in use.
The heat sink is isolated from the circuit. But make sure that the rest of the circuit is not short-circuited.
The recommended voltage range is 0V to 5V. A higher voltage is acceptable, but the discharge time will be longer. Never exceed 15V. If the voltage is higher than 8V, there may be some smoke for a very short time, but there's nothing to worry about.
When will the discharge be complete?
When the voltage of the supercapacitors drops below 0.1V, or one hour after the UcDumper LED has gone out. But you can also simply discharge them overnight.
If the voltage of a single supercapacitor is still above 0.1V after it has been fully discharged, what should I do?
You need to discharge the remaining voltage by connecting the two pins of each supercapacitor to T1 and T2 of the UcDumper, using the cable with alligator clips.
