The Shanling ET3 EVO is a top-loading digital CD transport designed to play discs, Hi-Res files and network streams before sending the signal to an external DAC. Its Ingenic X2000 platform, its upsampling system and its USB and I2S outputs allow conversion up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512, while the AES/EBU, coaxial and optical outputs provide broad compatibility with existing digital devices.
Intended for Hi-Fi systems already equipped with a separate DAC, it combines CD playback, USB storage, Bluetooth, DLNA and AirPlay within a single digital source. This design deliberately excludes any analog output and any headphone amplifier in order to focus the device on signal management and transmission, while retaining a compact format and connectivity suited to desktop systems as well as complete Hi-Fi configurations.
The Shanling ET3 EVO is a digital CD transport designed to feed an external DAC with a processed digital signal transmitted without an integrated analog conversion stage. Its architecture therefore includes neither RCA nor XLR outputs, nor a headphone output, nor an analog amplifier: the connected DAC remains responsible for conversion and amplification, while the ET3 EVO concentrates its resources on the playback, processing and transmission of audio data.

The Philips SAA7824 mechanism, combined with an HD850 laser and a magnetic puck, ensures stable rotation of discs placed on the top tray. The transport plays audio CDs, as well as CD-R and CD-RW media, while supporting the decoding of MQA-CDs. The CT7302CL chip then allows the selection of a native format output, All-to-PCM processing or All-to-DSD conversion, with a maximum resolution of PCM 32bit 768kHz or DSD512 depending on the output used.
The Ingenic X2000 platform coordinates disc playback, file browsing, network functions, digital output selection and the various upsampling modes. The IPS color screen, the front-panel controls, the multifunction dial, the infrared remote and the compatible app provide access to playback information and settings from the listening position, while keeping the use centered on the audio source.

Beyond CDs, the ET3 EVO plays high-resolution files stored on a USB stick or drive, notably in the DSD, DXD, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, APE, ALAC, MP3, AAC, OGG, WMA, M4A and OPUS formats. DSD disc images in ISO format are also supported subject to compatibility. The connected USB media can also be shared on the network as a NAS source, allowing other compatible devices to access the local library.
Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity in receiver mode supports the LDAC, AAC and SBC codecs, in order to transmit music from a smartphone, a tablet or a computer to the main DAC of the system. Thanks to its dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, the transport also allows network playback via DLNA and AirPlay, thus bringing together physical, local and streaming sources in a single device.

The Shanling ET3 EVO offers five digital outputs: USB Audio, I2S, AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF and optical S/PDIF. The USB and I2S outputs reach PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512 with a compatible DAC, while the AES/EBU, coaxial and optical outputs support PCM up to 32bit 192kHz as well as DSD64, depending on the capabilities of the connected device. Its I2S connector adopts an HDMI format, but transports exclusively I2S audio data and not standard HDMI signals.
The EVO suffix designates a targeted evolution of the original ET3 rather than a change of platform. Shanling retains the architecture, the playback functions and the connectivity possibilities of the previous model, while optimizing the power supply and the digital transport circuit in order to slightly improve signal transparency. Its machined metal chassis adopts a dark gray finish, carbon-style textured surfaces and a red multifunction dial, for a mass kept to 2.5kg.
