The Aiyima D20 is a high-resolution DAC featuring dual-chip architecture, combining ES9039Q2M and AK4493S converters with XMOS XU316 USB interface. It supports PCM streams up to 32 bit / 768 kHz as well as DSD512, ensuring conversion of high-definition digital sources to detailed analog output.
Intended for scalable Hi-Fi installation, it combines high-resolution Bluetooth reception, fully balanced circuit, interchangeable operational amplifiers and volume bypass mode. Its aluminium chassis, 3.4-inch display and UAC 1.0 / 2.0 compatibility facilitate integration with various sources, while independent volume memory maintains appropriate level for each input.
The D20 adopts digital architecture based on two high-end DAC chips, the ES9039Q2M and AK4493S. This design distributes digital-to-analog conversion processing between two specialized circuits, enabling exploitation of their resources within single conversion section. XMOS XU316 USB interface manages incoming audio streams and enables support for PCM files up to 32 bit / 768 kHz as well as DSD512, for use with high-resolution sources.

Wireless connectivity relies on QCC5125 Bluetooth chip, designed to receive audio streams from smartphone, tablet or computer. The D20 supports LDAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, AAC and SBC codecs; codec used adapts to source capabilities and transmitting device. This compatibility enables prioritization of more detailed transmission with devices equipped with LDAC or various aptX variants, while maintaining extended compatibility with common Bluetooth sources.
Analog section integrates operational amplifiers mounted on DIP8 sockets, enabling replacement without direct intervention on printed circuit board. This arrangement allows adaptation of output configuration to selected components and facilitates maintenance or experimentation with various compatible op-amps. The D20 can thus be used in original configuration or integrated into progressive optimization approach of analog section.

The D20 uses fully balanced architecture throughout signal path, from conversion stages to analog output. This configuration separates positive and negative signal components to limit influence of common-mode disturbances and maintain better channel separation. This design is particularly suitable for installations equipped with balanced analog connection, where DAC is placed between digital source and amplifier or preamplifier with XLR inputs.

Bypass mode allows disabling volume control integrated in D20 to transmit signal without passing through this level management function. The DAC can then be connected to integrated amplifier or preamplifier already equipped with own volume control. This configuration reduces treatments applied to output signal.

The D20 is housed in aluminium chassis protecting internal circuits while ensuring coherent integration in Hi-Fi chain. Its front panel accommodates 3.4-inch display showing main information regarding source, volume and audio format used. Minimalist user interface groups essential functions on clear presentation, enabling quick input selection or verification of operating status without multiplying menus.
Support for USB Audio Class 1.0 and 2.0 modes enables D20 to work with extended range of digital sources. UAC 1.0 mode favours compatibility with certain older devices or systems, while UAC 2.0 mode enables exploitation of high-resolution formats supported by XMOS XU316 interface. This dual compatibility facilitates integration with computer, network player or USB source without imposing single configuration.

The D20 separately stores volume level associated with each input, preserving dedicated setting for each source. When switching from Bluetooth to USB input, for example, device automatically recalls level previously used for that input instead of applying common value. This management limits sound discrepancies when changing source and simplifies daily use in installation grouping multiple devices.
