The Ampapa Q1 is a high-performance desktop DAC / headphone amplifier designed for audiophiles seeking versatility, precision, and sound customization. It features a dual DAC architecture combining ESS9039Q2M and AK4493 chips, paired with an XMOS XU316 USB interface for high-resolution audio processing up to PCM 768kHz 32bit and DSD512.
The Q1 also integrates a Bluetooth 5.2 module supporting SBC / aptX / aptX-HD, as well as an analog stage based on 4 interchangeable LM49720 op-amps in DIP8 format, allowing fine tuning of the sound signature.
In terms of connectivity, it is extremely complete with USB-C inputs (UAC 1.0/2.0), optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth, along with outputs including single-ended RCA, balanced TRS Jack 6.35mm, and a 3.5mm headphone output capable of delivering up to 1000mW at 32Ω with two gain levels.
Its technical performance is outstanding, with extremely low THD+N (0.0002%), SNR ≥120dB, and a linear frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz (±0.2dB), ensuring precise, dynamic, and transparent sound reproduction.
Ampapa Q1: Switchable ESS9039 & AK4493 DAC chips
The Q1 adopts a selectable dual DAC architecture, allowing you to choose between two distinct sound signatures depending on your preferences or music.
- The ESS9039Q2M, known for an analytical, ultra-precise, and detailed sound
- The AK4493, known for a warmer, more organic, and musical rendering
This flexibility goes even further, as it is possible to assign a different DAC to each output (line or headphone), offering advanced system customization.
Ampapa Q1: Interchangeable DIP8 op-amps & adjustable gain
The Q1 is equipped with 4 LM49720 operational amplifiers mounted on DIP8 sockets, easily accessible via a top panel. This allows advanced users to replace the op-amps with other compatible models to fine-tune the sound signature.
The headphone stage also features two gain levels, allowing output power to be adapted to different types of headphones:
- High gain: up to 1000mW at 32Ω
- Low gain: 380mW at 32Ω
This configuration allows efficient driving of headphones ranging from 16Ω to 600Ω, whether sensitive IEMs or high-impedance headphones.
