FIIO K9 AKM in a nutshell

FiiO offers us the evolution of their K9 model. The K9 AKM is a versatile DAC model integrating analog and digital inputs, and can be used in USB DAC mode. This model features a latest-generation AKM DAC coupled with its Delta-Sigma modulator, enabling music playback at resolutions of up to 32 bits / 768kHz and DSD512 file decoding. These two THX amplifiers, meanwhile, can deliver up to 2000 mW at 32 ohms for efficient powering of any headphones or earphones, thanks to balanced and unbalanced outputs.

FIIO K9 AKM : High output power

On the output side, the Fiio K9 AKM offers an single-ended 6.35mm headphone output and two balanced outputs, one 4.4mm jack and one XLR. The unbalanced output is rated at 1500mW at 32 Ohm, while the balanced outputs are rated at 2000mW at 32 Ohm. Thanks to its design, Fiio's headphone amplifier can power any type of headphone or pair of headphones, even high-impedance ones. Furthermore, to guarantee perfect compatibility, you'll find three gain settings on the front of the K9 AKM.

In addition to its USB ports, the K9 AKM offers two digital inputs (one optical and one coaxial), and a 4.4mm jack input. This makes it possible to connect a wide range of sources, such as CD players, network players and TV sets. It can therefore be easily integrated into any Hifi system, where it will act as a USB DAC and Audio DAC. Furthermore, thanks to its Bluetooth 5.1 receiver, Fiio audio's K9 AKM can handle music from a smartphone, tablet or computer. On the codec front, support of SBC and AAC guarantees compatibility with all sources, while the aptX HD and LDAC codecs ensure high listening quality. Finally, the aptX Low Latency and aptX Adaptive codecs are also on board to avoid any sound/image mismatch if you want to broadcast audio from a video.

Finally, Fiio's K9 AKM is not only easy to control from its physical front panel interface, but can also be remotely controlled via the Fiio mobile app. While you can adjust the volume, gain level, source and front-panel output connectors, you can set many other parameters and create your own equalization curves to adjust sound reproduction to your preferences.
