It boasts a distortion rate of 0.00006% for an impressive signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range of 133dB. What's more, the inclusion of an XMOS XU316 USB interface makes the most of the DAC chips used, ensuring signal conversion at sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512.

For its amplification stage, the Topping DX5 II evolves the brand's characteristic NFCA architecture into X-Hybrid technology. This is a three-stage amplification architecture characterized by record efficiency, reducing power consumption while minimizing heat generation. Despite its small chassis, the DX5 II houses four-channel symmetrical amplification.

To ensure compatibility with all headphones and earphones on the market, the Topping DX5 II makes no concessions, featuring single-ended 6.35mm jack, balanced 4.4mm jack and balanced 4-pin XLR headphone outputs. With the new DX5 version, Topping has also taken the opportunity to revamp its user interface, introducing the Aurora UI. This new, highly customizable interface allows you to modify its colors at will for optimum readability, and integrates a VU meter and FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) display in addition to the classic playback information, offering a rich visual experience.

To give you maximum control over sound reproduction, Topping has developed a 10-band equalizer for the Topping DX5 II. Once you've defined your target curve using the dedicated software/application, simply import it into your device to enjoy it. It's worth noting that you can save several different sound profiles and switch between them at will, allowing you to adapt sound reproduction to your headphones on the fly.

This software/application is currently being tested by the Topping teams. It will be available and made compatible with the DX5 II shortly via a firmware update. The mobile application is scheduled for release first on Android, then on iOS.

Topping Tune will be available on MAC OS in the second half of 2025. It is currently only available for Windows.

All around great little box
This is a versatile and neat little box. Compact chassis, integrated power supply, nice display, easy menu navigation, good remote and volume control - very pleasant and easy to use. Initial software bugs have been ironed out by now via firmware updates. The Topping software for setting up EQ profiles from your PC (it is, unfortunately, not possible to do so on the device itself) is still not perfect, but usable by now. Switching between profiles is possible on the device itself, so unless you need more profiles than the 10 which it can store, or frequently change headphones, you can operate it without the need for a PC connection. The headphone amp provides a lot of power, and the entire thing sounds like it should - without any character of its own. At the moment, this is the DAC/amp combo to get if your budget stretches this far.

Bonjour a tous , je vous donne mes impressions apres plus d'une semaine d'utilisation, alors c'est ma 2eme configuration en casque hifi tres peu expérience dans ce domaine,

Les 1er jours en rodage c'était juste neutre sans plus mais apres 20h 30h rodage, sa a commencé a donner c'est ti griffes de Sonorité qui on été tres agréable, aujourd'hui, il le rodage es bien avancé, il sonne tres équilibré neutre tres aéré, tres détail, un belle effet 3d depuis les bass jusqu'au aigues les aigues son très détaillé jusqu'à les fin note les bass bien présenté sans excès , un vrais régal pour mes oreilles, je ne regrette pas mon achat il vaut largement son prix

Compact DAC/AMP with plenty of power
Some people would call my change to this DAC/Amp a downgrade as I come from a Audio-gd D28.38 to this. However, this little DAC/Amp combo has so many more features, such as being able to use the device without a computer or other source connected to it.

For the headphones I normally use Denon D2000 and Focal Clear MG, this has plenty of power both single ended and balanced.

Sound-wise after listening to it for a few days, it sounds transparent to me, nothing seems out of place from other equipment I normally use. So all-in all I am very happy with it.

Connectivity-wise, it also has balanced out, which I use with a set of active speakers, which also works very well.

Being class D is also a huge plus as the Audio-gd device I had before could run a bit toasty even when not in use.

Take this with a grain of salt as these are just initial impressions, but so far I am not disappointed.
