The E1DA Cosmos ADC DM is a USB analog/digital converter designed for precision audio measurement. Its architecture is based on two ESS ES9822Pro chips and a Comtrue CT7601PR USB interface with custom firmware, capable of handling PCM streams up to 32bit / 768kHz. This design allows it to achieve a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 132dB(A), depending on the unit's grade.
The Cosmos ADC DM accepts balanced stereo signals on XLR up to 10Vrms, as well as higher levels on 2.5mm jack, up to 43Vrms. Its various sensitivity settings allow the input to be matched to the measured signal, while the dedicated USB-C ports for power and data limit interactions between these two functions.
E1DA also provides the TweakCosmosADC_DM software for Windows. It allows several operating parameters to be adjusted, in particular the interpolation filters, harmonic compensation, converter configuration and thermal management, in order to adapt the ADC's behavior to different measurement protocols.
Two LEDs located near the USB-C output indicate the sample rate through their blinking frequency, from 48kHz to 768kHz. Their color also indicates the mode used, with green for stereo operation and blue for mono mode.
All Cosmos ADC units are calibrated by the manufacturer. The original values must be saved before any modification in the software, in order to be able to restore the settings corresponding to the initial calibration.
