The LT1084 regulated DC linear power supply module has been designed to properly power an Amplifier or other continuous audio circuit.
It is equipped with a potentiometer to adjust the voltage from 1.2 to 19.5V DC from an AC voltage source whose value is between 2.5 and 30V AC respectively. The input voltage must be 2.5V higher than the desired output voltage (e.g. 7.5V input to obtain 5V output).
Its particularly rigorous design and the quality of its components make it an excellent choice to power a digital amplifier or any other low voltage high-fidelity element such as certain DAC converters, headphone amplifiers, etc... These are all devices whose sound quality it helps to improve.

Not as described, poor quality control, works once fixed
As of today (4 October 2020), this Audiophonics web item (Ref 11645) is described incorrectly. Of the two linear power supply modules I received in September, neither had an LT1083 regulator installed. They both came with an LT1084 small plastic format. Furthermore one of the regulators was not bolted flush with its heatsink, standing in free space 1.5mm away. Easily fixed, sure. But very poor quality control. As we are dealing with voltage and current (and sensitive, costly connected devices), please check your item carefully once it arrives. Enjoy!
