Tanchjim Fola are dynamic in-ear monitors designed around the DMT5 transducer, developed to ensure accurate and controlled sound reproduction in a compact format. They are based on an acoustic architecture modelled by FEA and then machined by CNC, allowing fine control of internal volumes and optimised transmission of high frequencies, while maintaining distortion at 0.048% in order to preserve signal clarity across the entire spectrum.

The acoustic architecture of Tanchjim Fola speakers is based on advanced FEA modelling, followed by CNC machining, a continuous design process that allows for precise control of internal volumes and signal propagation paths. This approach results in a measured improvement of approximately 10% in high-frequency transmission, reducing energy loss while increasing perceived resolution and micro-detail clarity.
Beyond internal optimisation, this structure also promotes enhanced sound insulation, limiting sound leakage while increasing the effectiveness of passive attenuation. Noise reduction thus reaches a depth of 32dB, preserving the integrity of the sound message in noisy environments without resorting to active processing.
The Fola speakers feature the DMT5 dynamic driver, based on a dual magnetic circuit combined with a dual acoustic chamber, a configuration that stabilises the magnetic field while finely controlling the behaviour of the diaphragm. This architecture promotes a more linear response under stress, while maintaining consistent dynamics across the entire spectrum.
The DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) composite diaphragm, coupled with a PU suspension, allows for significant membrane excursion without loss of control, combining impact in the bass and precision in the midrange. This approach is extended by an acoustic chamber based on the Helmholtz resonance principle, which is modelled using FEA to generate targeted reinforcement around 5 to 6kHz, a key range for presence and definition. The result is a total harmonic distortion (THD) of just 0.048%, ensuring a clean signal even at high levels.

The ergonomics of Fola earphones are based on a combination of shape and internal pressure management. The strategic placement of the decompression vent prevents any obstruction by the ear, allowing for stable pressure regulation inside the earpiece and ear canal. This control prevents variations in response due to occlusion, ensuring that the sound reproduction corresponds precisely to that defined by Tanchjim's engineers.
At the same time, the geometry of the shell has been designed to fit the natural contours of the ear, while adjusting the centre of gravity to distribute weight evenly. This design reduces fatigue during long listening sessions, while maintaining stable positioning, which is essential for consistent sound reproduction.
The Fola comes with three interchangeable acoustic nozzles, each modifying the frequency response according to a clear functional logic. The L nozzles promote a clearer and more transparent sound, with an emphasis on the high frequencies, while the S nozzles offer a more natural signature that serves as a standard reference. For those looking for more substance and impact, the D nozzles reinforce the presence of the bass frequencies, while maintaining the overall balance of the spectrum. This modularity allows the listening experience to be finely tuned to preferences and uses without altering the basic architecture.

The headphones come with a silver-plated copper cable made of Litz wires, a construction that limits skin effects and preserves signal consistency across the entire bandwidth. This approach is extended by an interchangeable termination, supplied with 3.5mm jack, 4.4mm jack and USB‑C connectors, allowing seamless integration with both analogue and digital sources.

When using the USB-C terminal, the integrated DSP opens access to the Tanchjim application, allowing you to modify, import and save custom equalisation curves. This processing layer extends to the ability to virtually simulate 7.1 and 5.1 environments, offering spatial rendering adaptation according to content and usage, while maintaining the basic acoustic signature defined by the transducer.
