Combining excellent performance with a reasonable price, the Dayton Audio Epique E180HE-PR passive radiator is the perfect companion to the Epique series of MMAG subwoofers. Featuring a carbon fiber diaphragm, custom machined surround, and a cast aluminum frame, the E180HE-PR has a low resonant frequency that allows for more compact speaker cabinets without the need for long ports.
When designing the E180HE-PR, Dayton Audio paid particular attention to optimizing the surround to ensure unrestricted excursion without limiting performance. The large rubber surround was custom made to allow for high linear excursion and a custom spider was designed to lower the resonant frequency for maximum performance and easy tuning.
The rigid carbon fiber diaphragm gives the E180HE-PR many performance advantages. It offers excellent damping properties for optimal control. Its optimized shape ensures that the diaphragm will not deform, even when exposed to high mechanical stress. The result is a smooth response and low distortion, even when the diaphragm is subjected to high excursion.
In order to withstand such linear excursions, the Dayton Audio Epique E180HE-PR uses a robust cast aluminum frame. Its minimalist design eliminates unwanted distortion and provides ample room for the back of the diaphragm.
