iBasso D16 Portable USB DAC Headphone Amplifier Class A Discrete 1-bit 32bit 768kHz DSD512
The iBasso D16 is a portable USB DAC with integrated headphone amplifier positioned as a flagship audiophile model. It stands out with a fully discrete design based on 128 PWM-DACs (1-bit conversion) driven by a proprietary FPGA-Master 2.0, replacing conventional DAC chips. Hi-Res Audio compatible, it supports streams up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and native DSD512, ensuring extremely precise and natural sound reproduction.
Its amplification section is based on a discrete Class A circuit derived from the DX320MAX, capable of delivering high power reaching approximately 1125mW per channel at 32Ω, with substantial current to drive demanding headphones.
The D16 offers comprehensive connectivity with USB, coaxial and optical 3.5mm inputs, as well as headphone and line outputs in 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced. It also features a 1.3" OLED display, stepped volume control, and physical controls for standalone operation.

iBasso D16: discrete 1-bit architecture (128 PWM-DACs driven by FPGA)
The D16 abandons traditional integrated DACs in favor of a fully discrete approach based on 128 PWM converters operating in parallel. This architecture is driven by the FPGA-Master 2.0, which handles signal processing, reclocking, and digital-to-analog conversion.
This discrete 1-bit operation achieves extremely low distortion levels (below 0.0001%) as well as more natural sound reproduction, with improved harmonic density and greater precision in micro-details.
Thanks to its advanced architecture, the D16 supports the most demanding audio formats on the market. It handles PCM streams up to 32bit 768kHz as well as native DSD512, ensuring full compatibility with modern high-resolution files.
This capability allows faithful reproduction of studio recordings, with high temporal precision and a particularly detailed soundstage.
iBasso D16: discrete Class A amplification
The D16 integrates a fully discrete Class A headphone amplifier, directly inspired by the DX320MAX design. This topology prioritizes linearity and sound quality over efficiency, delivering richer and more organic sound reproduction.
With power exceeding 1W per channel at 32Ω, along with high current capability, it can drive both in-ear monitors and high-impedance audiophile headphones. This power reserve ensures excellent dynamics and optimal control of the drivers.
iBasso D16: OLED display and precise control
The D16 features a 1.3-inch OLED display showing essential information such as volume, audio format, and active settings. It is paired with a stepped volume control ensuring greater precision and better gain management.
Physical buttons allow navigation through settings and fully standalone operation without relying on an external application.
