Portable DAC / Headphone Amplifier / Ultra-compact and lightweight design
The xDSD of iFi Audio is built around a decoder chip Burr-Brown Hi-Res (DSD1793 multi-bit Burr-Brown DAC). The latter natively supports DSD and is a solid basis for high-resolution decoding with support for up PCM768kHz and DSD512.
A clock femto GMT combined with precision buffer memory drastically reduce jitter.
The headphone amplification stage uses an operational amplifier OV4627 ultra low noise FET and a volume control W990VST (rotary encoder connected to a resistor ladder). This construction allows to enjoy all the benefits of a completely analog amplification stage controlled by a digital control. The volume control is thus very respectful of the audio resolution. The rotary knob is backlit to provide information on the volume level (detailed at the end of the page)
Great connectivity for portable DAC

Optimized for easy transport and installation, xDSD has an entrance Coaxial / Optical condensed in a 3.5mm input. This input allows inter-compatibility with CD players and most of the older generation DAP up to 192kHz / 24Bit
Its USB-A male inlet OTG / CCK provides access to higher resolutions with DAP compatible DSD and the various digital sources (computer, smartphone, tablet, réseau..etc player)
The Bluetooth interface natively supports apt-X and AAC. The sound compression of digital files transmitted by wireless connectivity will be dynamically adapted to apply only the strictly necessary compression transfer. The Bluetooth for audio quality is considerably closer to CD quality.
Designed to promote headphones
The nomadic decoder xDSD offers filters for optimal headphones experience. The XBASS+ filter is dedicated to open headphones and semi-open in order to recover the low frequency while keeping the medium clean.
The spatial and stereo are also in the spotlight with a 3D filter + to rebalance the sound when mixing / mastering has been too much optimized for a speaker use. This feature is based on analog signal and operates on the dynamic to redefine the listening space in order to promote ntelligibility in a headphone context.
The construction of the headset amplifier stage is S-Balanced compatible . The circuit uses a double-mass separate mono signal in order to exploit the full potential of the headphone. Note that this architecture does not require two different outputs nor manual switching between balanced and unbalanced phones.
Easy to carry High Resolution
The xDSD is powered by a lithium polymer battery capacity (2200 mAh). Sufficient autonomy for 10 consecutive hours on S / PDIF, 6h on USB and 8h on bluetooth. These values are naturally likely to vary according to the impedance of the headphones.
The battery pack is also an effective way to limit noise and to clarify the signal.
Chip USB XMOS XS1-U8A-64-FB96-C5
The USB interface allows a data processing and high-performance multi-tasking / multi-channel through a USB chip XMOS 8 logic cores 500 MIPS 500MHz.
The XMOS chip has its own internal clock and can also be synchronized to an external clock for stability and accuracy in data transfers.
Finally, this feature also helps the user experience since the XMOS chip is compatible READYIN & READYOUT
