Chisto Black Analoguer is an anti-static liquid for CD, SACD, DVD and Blu-Ray. It effectively eliminates static induced signal phase distortion by dispersing low voltage hot spots during disc playback, which greatly improves the sound quality of your physical media.

How does it work?

During playback, a CD spins at a very high speed in a closed, dry environment. At the same time, the drive motors and digital circuits generate a lot of heat. These factors combine to precipitate the gradual build-up of electrostatic fields. Static electricity does not cover the CD uniformly, but rather appears as low-voltage hot spots randomly distributed over the disc surface. The fields increase rapidly and intensify as the CD is played.

The digital circuitry of a CD player reads the information captured on the disc via a laser beam. The information is stored in digital form in binary. It interprets these numbers and converts them into an analog signal, which is then sent to the speakers. When noise builds up, it can interfere with the interpretation of the digital information. This means that when the digital/analog conversion takes place, an altered signal is produced.

In essence, the signal suffers from distortion. The accumulation of static electricity introduces a continuous electrical vibration, which causes phase changes. If strong enough, these vibrations can cause a phase shift of 45°, 90° or more, and make the absolute phase appear reversed.

These phase anomalies can affect the timing of the music, with disastrous consequences on the quality of the sound reproduction. The timing of notes is crucial to the musical experience. To our ear, timing represents texture, dynamics and distance. It is the signature that musicians put on their music and that allows us to recognize a piece as being performed by them. During playback, the certain knowledge of a piece of music leads to the expectation of what will follow. If it is slightly off, the musical experience is compromised. An accurate and phase-coherent signal is therefore essential for accurate and faithful playback.

The Black Analoguer acts directly on the CD, in order to limit the appearance of these scattered static charges and thus avoid any sound degradation.
