Portable Headphone Amplifier DAC THX AAA-788+ ES9038Pro XMOS XU316 Bluetooth 5.0 32bit 768kHz DSD512 MQA
FiiO presents with its Q7 an extremely powerful and complete portable headphone amplifier and DAC, taking advantage of a high-end design to allow you to enjoy your music at its best, both at home and on the move. Here, the brand has selected for you the best current components to achieve exceptional levels of performance.
Although it has a portable format, the Q7 integrates a sedentary device amplifier stage, allowing it to develop an important power, up to 3000mW. Enough to drive most of the headphones on the market without any difficulty! For this, the Q7 relies on a pair of THX AAA-788+ chips in a balanced architecture. It also benefits from a 5-level gain control for even more versatility.
The Q7 is equipped in such a way that it can be used in the majority of scenarios. It is equipped with a particularly complete set of connectors with USB, optical and coaxial inputs as well as balanced and single-ended headphone and line outputs.
1 | Single-ended Jack 6.35mm headphone output |
2 | Balanced Jack 4.4mm headphone / line output |
3 | LED indicator |
4 | Single-ended Jack 3.5mm headphone / line output |
5 | Balanced Jack 2.5mm headphone output |
6 | Volume button |
7 | Batterie / DC power supply selector |
8 | ON/OFF USB charge switch |
9 | Reset button |
10 | Optical Toslink input |
11 | USB-C port |
12 | Jack DC power connector |
13 | Coaxial input |
The Q7 can be operated either on battery or via an external DC power supply. In the former mode, the 9200mAh battery provides ample runtime and allows the amplifier to deliver up to 1500mW of power. In DC power supply mode, the battery is bypassed to protect its autonomy while the low noise 24W custom power supply allows the Q7 to reveal its full power.
The 5-stage audio circuit includes 20 LDOs and a 470mF supercapacitor with very low ESR to provide a large power reserve to maintain stable, high-quality sound at all times.
The decoding circuits of the Q7 are not to be outdone since they also benefit from a careful architecture, using high-end components. We find in particular an ESS ES9038Pro DAC and an XMOS XU316 USB interface allowing the Q7 to support high resolution audio formats up to PCM 768kHz, DSD512 and MQA.
A Qualcomm QCC5124 Bluetooth 5.0 receiver chip is also integrated, supporting the high-quality transmission codecs aptX HD, aptX adaptive and LDAC.
FiiO further enhances the power of its processing unit by using a Cortex M4 processor capable of efficiently handling tasks such as clock management or USB and SPDIF decoding. Furthermore, the digital and analog sections of the Q7 are physically separated on different modules and shielded to avoid any interference.
The FiiO Q7 displays a nice 1.3" color TFT screen. This allows quick access to playback information such as sample rate or audio format.
