Meze Strada: 50mm dynamic driver
The Strada is based on a 50mm dynamic driver directly inherited from the 109 PRO, whose architecture has been specifically adapted to the acoustic constraints of a closed-back headphone. This transposition is not limited to a simple load adjustment: it aims to preserve the breathability and clarity of the original transducer while controlling the internal reflections specific to this type of design.
The dome features a composite structure combining cellulose and carbon fiber, a choice that combines controlled rigidity with low moving mass, promoting rapid response and nuanced reproduction of micro-information. This approach extends to the dome's contour, made of beryllium-plated semi-crystalline polymer to improve mechanical stability during high excursions.
Beryllium, applied by physical vapor deposition (PVD), acts as a structural corrector here: it helps reduce unwanted resonances while preserving signal integrity, resulting in more transparent sound and better transient clarity, even at high listening levels.
Meze Strada: Craftsmanship
Beyond sound reproduction, the Strada uses the same chassis as the Liric, redesigned to accommodate a dynamic transducer while maintaining the mechanical and vibratory requirements of a high-end closed-back headphone. This structural base ensures consistent rigidity throughout, which is essential for maintaining the acoustic consistency of the speaker.
The assembly is done by hand using magnesium, selected for its mechanical properties and lightness, while ebony from Madagascar adds a touch of class to the whole. This combination aims to limit unwanted vibrations while ensuring high durability over time.
The colored elements of the headphone are hand-painted, an artisanal approach that allows for precise control over the finish while ensuring aesthetic continuity with the technical positioning of the product.
Meze Strada: Comfort and ergonomics
The adjustment system is based on a smooth-running rod with no notches, allowing for gradual and precise adjustment without any noticeable mechanical stress during installation. This continuous adjustment allows for natural adaptation to different body types.
The synthetic leather ear pads are attached using magnets, a solution that makes replacement easy while maintaining a secure seal around the ear, which is essential for the closed architecture to function properly.
Finally, the padded headband is designed to distribute the weight of the headphones evenly, while maintaining sufficient air circulation around the head. This passive dissipation of heat and moisture helps maintain consistent comfort during long listening sessions, without gradual heat build-up.
