With the SP3, FiiO unveils compact and powerful active speakers, ideal for a desktop installation as well as for integration in a living room for example. These two-way powered models provide a high quality sound reproduction, both accurate, rich and dynamic. Each point has been carefully thought out and adjusted to provide the best sound performance and promote a beautiful immersion.
Carbon fiber 3.5" woofer
The FiiO SP3 feature a 3.5" carbon fiber diaphragm woofer/midrange driver, larger than what is usually found on products of this price range. This gives them a considerable advantage in terms of dynamics, projecting a wider soundstage and responding with great responsiveness. Whether listening to music or watching a movie, these woofers are perfectly capable of expressing the audio message effectively, even at higher volumes.
The carbon fiber used for the diaphragm is particularly strong and stiff, but also light, ideal properties for a loudspeaker. The low weight of this material favors a fast transient response, while its rigidity reduces non-linear distortions by minimizing vibrations when the diaphragm moves. All in all, the carbon fiber used contributes to a faithful and precise sound reproduction for an immersive listening experience.
Asymmetrical internal and external magnetic circuits
In order to allow the 3.5" woofer to act efficiently and to allow the SP3 to deliver its full potential, FiiO engineers have developed a system of external and internal asymmetrical magnetic circuits. An auxiliary magnet was added to the center of the SP3 to improve the strength of the magnetic field and reach a 1.2T magnetic flux. It is thanks to this important driving power that the SP3 manages to provide such a dynamic sound. Moreover, this particular structure allows a certain reduction of the non-linear distortion on the whole frequency band.

1" Silk tweeter
In an active desktop speaker, the tweeter usually plays a crucial role in reproducing fine sound details. The SP3, unlike many other active models, uses a 1" tweeter capable of reproducing frequencies up to 35kHz. The copper-plated aluminum KSV voice coil allows for accurate and clean reproduction of high frequencies, even when listening off-axis.
Tweeter with wave absorption structure
The tweeter of the SP3 also uses silk as a design material to absorb unwanted sound waves behind the driver, further improving the sound qualities of the driver. In addition, a large cavity behind the tweeter's magnet allows the tweeter to reproduce frequencies down to 800Hz. Moreover, when the tweeter delivers frequencies higher than 20kHz, this cavity and the general design of this loudspeaker allow to release the unwanted sound waves and to reduce the resonances generated by the movement of the tweeter. The result is a nice extension of the highs and a smooth and accurate reproduction of them.
Directional waveguides
In order to offer excellent sound quality, the FiiO SP3 has been perfectly designed and adjusted to ensure that the sound waves reach the listener in an optimal way. The tweeter is positioned to allow for high quality listening without requiring extremely precise and constraining speaker placement. In addition, the horizontal bands surrounding the tweeter allow for a wide dispersion of the sound waves, greatly improving the sound image.
S-shaped porting tube
With its efficient bass-reflex system, the SP3 incorporates a port with a tube specifically designed for this model. Its "S" shape allows the use of a smaller tube section to maintain a compact form factor for the speaker. In addition, it maximizes airflow and reduces turbulence to reproduce deep, punchy bass.
Active 2-way crossover
The SP3 adopts an active 2-way crossover with a 3.4kHz cutoff frequency, specifically designed to maximize the performance of the tweeter and woofer. The ingenious integration of this crossover circuitry ensures a reduction in intermodulation distortion, avoids overloading the drivers and greatly improves the speaker's performance..
7° inclined support
The FiiO SP3 speakers are delivered with 7° inclined stands. These allow for optimal proximity listening, e.g. when placed on a desk. Furthermore, these stands are made of silicone and also act as vibration absorbers.
