With its S9c Pro, Aune presents a versatile, high-performance HiFi device in an elegantly designed case. The S9c Pro is a DAC and headphone amplifier that can also be used as a volume controller with active speakers. Among the S9c Pro's 1080 components, Aune has integrated high-end audiophile components such as two ES9068AS DAC chips and a USB XMOS interface, enabling it to decode up to PCM 32bit 768kHz, DSD512 and MQA 16x. An ultra-low jitter PLL clock synchronization system and a 50W toroidal transformer coupled to 23900μF capacitors are also present. Its amplification stage is also highly sophisticated, thanks to the integration of 16 dual JFET transistors (2 per output channel). But the special feature of this DAC/headphone amplifier lies mainly in the way it processes the signal. It converts the analog input signal into an I2S signal, enabling it to separate the clock signal from the data, and thus supply the same stream to the XMOS interface and the DAC.
The ES9068AS DAC chip from ESS has been specially designed for professional audio equipment and audiophile HiFi devices. High-performance, it operates in 32bit stereo and is based on ESS Hyperstream technology. It enables the S9c Pro to support sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz, DSD512 and MQA 16x, while ensuring highly accurate restitution.
The use of ultra-low jitter PLL (phase-locked loop) technology enables the S9c Pro to isolate the clock source signal from the analog input signal, and transmit it simultaneously to the USB XMOS interface and the DAC section. It's this sharing of the clock signal source that makes high-fidelity rendering possible. The clock synchronization system also converts coaxial / AES / optical signals into I2S signals, greatly enhancing the quality of the final audio rendering and drastically limiting interference.
The amplifier stage uses an entirely discrete circuit and features two JFET transistors per output channel (16 transistors in all), enabling it to deliver up to 5W of power. A substantial energy reserve enabling the S9c to accompany the vast majority of headphones on the market.
With its 3 headphone outputs and 5W output power, Aune's S9c Pro lets you enjoy all types of headphones. It features two balanced 4.4mm jack and 4-pin XLR outputs, plus a single-ended 6.35mm jack.
The S9c's Bluetooth reception means you can easily enjoy a wide range of audio sources, such as your smartphone or tablet. Bluetooth functionality also benefits from the S9c Pro's built-in clock synchronization and I2S conversion technologies, and supports the high-resolution LDAC, aptX and aptX HD codecs.
Aune offers the option of using the S9c Pro in Normal Mode for a clear, natural sound, or in Pure Mode, which enhances the DAC's performance, favoring a wider soundstage, greater density and therefore a richer, more detailed sound.
On the rear panel of the S9c Pro you'll find a 10Mhz BNC input for an external clock. This makes it compatible with Aune S1c, Aune SC1 and Aune XC1 clocks, for example.
