Musician Pegasus III Discrete Balanced R2R DAC 32bit 1536kHz DSD1024 Silver
Building on the concept of version II, the Musician Pegasus III is a highly performant R2R DAC based on audiophile-grade components. Like its predecessor, it features a low-noise power supply as well as a FIFO buffer. For signal processing, it integrates an Altera Cyclone IV FPGA, a FIR filter and an STM32F446 interface. This concentration of technology allows it to support ultra-high resolution streams up to PCM up to 32bit 1536kHz and DSD up to DSD1024.
The main improvements brought to the Pegasus III include the optimization and enhancement of its R2R architecture, now fully balanced, the addition of high-speed multi-channel digital isolators, and the upgrade of its crystal oscillator with two custom high-precision oscillators for outstanding clock stability.
In terms of connectivity, it retains a complete range of digital inputs including USB-B, I2S via HDMI, optical Toslink, coaxial and AES/EBU. For signal output, classic analog RCA and balanced XLR outputs are available.
Musician Pegasus III: High-performance balanced R2R DAC with dedicated DSD architecture
The fully balanced R2R circuit is built using 0.005% high-precision resistors for accurate digital-to-analog conversion. Furthermore, this architecture allows processing of high-resolution sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 1536kHz and DSD1024.
Musician Pegasus III: Custom TCXO crystal oscillators
The Musician Pegasus III is equipped with two custom TCXO clocks supporting its FPGA chip. These new crystal oscillators provide excellent clock stability, allowing the Pegasus III to handle numerous sampling rates.

It is not recommended to use XLR and RCA outputs simultaneously, as they share the same circuitry.
I2S pinout configuration
To ensure compatibility with most devices, the Musician Pegasus offers several I2S pinout configurations. To change this setting, follow the steps below:
- Select the I2S input.
- Press and hold the NOS button for 3 seconds until the I2S indicator starts blinking.
- Press the NOS button again to change the I2S mode.
- Once the correct mode is selected, the device confirms the setting and automatically exits the configuration mode.
If the setting does not provide satisfactory sound (for example if a whistling noise is heard), this should not be considered a device malfunction but simply an incompatibility. The recommended solution is to use a custom HDMI cable adapted to the pinout of your source device and the Pegasus.
