An updated version of the SU-9 Pro, the SMSL SU-9 Ultra includes all the features that made its predecessor a high-performance DAC, plus a number of improvements. This time, the SU-9 Ultra features an AK4191 digital interface coupled with an AK4499EX DAC chip, both from AKM. This AKM chip combination delivers rich, precise sound reproduction, while decoding high-resolution streams up to PCM 32bit 768kHz, DSD512 and MQA.
Inside this DAC, you'll find high-quality components such as an XMOS XU-316 USB interface, a CK-03 clock circuit that considerably reduces jitter, and a shielded, regulated power supply stage capable of delivering a clean, stable electrical signal.

The SU-9 Ultra incorporates an AK4499EX DAC chip coupled with an AKM AK4191 digital interface. This combination of chips enables it to decode up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD up to DSD512. They also accept MQA streams and offer a distortion level of less than 0.00006% (-124dB).
Support MQA and MQA-CD streams
The SMSL SU-9 Ultra supports the decoding of MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) files, offering sound quality as close as possible to the studio recording. It also supports the MQA-CD format, enabling this format to be read from a CD player. MQA streams are supported by optical, coaxial and USB-C digital inputs.
XMOS XU-316 USB interface with USB-C connector
A 16-core XMOS XU316 USB interface is integrated into the SU-9 Ultra. This interface enables it to process high-resolution streams (PCM 32bit 768kHz, DSD DoP and DSD512) via its USB-C input port. This may be ideal, for example, for users wishing to use their computer as a source device.
Bluetooth HD
The SMSL SU-9 Ultra features a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver chip, enabling you to stream your music wirelessly via a source such as your smartphone. The SU-9 Ultra supports the standard Bluetooth transmission codecs SBC and AAC, as well as the high-definition codecs aptX, aptX HD and LDAC.
