The LAIV Harmony DAC 2 combines a minimalist design with a discrete balanced R2R digital-to-analog conversion, carrying over the architecture that characterized the first generation while adapting it to new operating modes. It supports PCM up to 32bit 768kHz and DSD512, while its discrete class A output stage simultaneously feeds the XLR and RCA outputs with a low impedance, making it easy to pair with any preamplifier or power amplifier. Its modular design also retains simplified maintenance and easy upgradeability.
The Harmony DAC 2 relies on an R2R digital-to-analog conversion stage, based on networks of individual resistors matched to a tolerance of 0.05%. This fully balanced architecture processes the signal polarities separately in order to limit conversion errors and preserve the accuracy of the musical information. PCM conversion can now operate in three selectable modes: NOS, proprietary OS oversampling, or hardware sample rate conversion, while DSD remains processed natively in NOS, without any intermediate conversion.

Beyond its R2R network, the DAC 2 features a new discrete class A output stage, designed to provide a stable signal to the analog outputs. This allows the XLR and RCA outputs to be used simultaneously, with a low output impedance suited to different types of preamplifiers and power amplifiers. This improvement notably makes it easier to integrate the DAC into several audio chains or listening systems without having to select a single analog output.


The DAC 2 has a direct input for a 10 MHz master clock, allowing the entire conversion process to be synchronized with an external reference. This link operates without a DDC or detour through an I2S interface, while the different PCM processing modes allow the DAC's operation to be adapted to listening preferences and the nature of the sources used.
The DAC 2 architecture fully separates the input and output stages with dedicated digital isolation. This design limits the propagation of ground loops, noise carried by the USB bus, and interference from upstream connected devices, thereby lowering the residual noise level and preserving low-level information.

The DAC 2 replaces the monochrome OLED display of the first generation with a color display, which groups together information on the source, the signal format, and the selected conversion mode. It also adds 12V trigger connectivity, both input and output, to integrate it into the power-up sequence of a complete system. Finally, firmware updates are now performed via USB-C, which simplifies maintenance and software upgrade operations.
