The SMSL R100 is a digital-to-analog converter featuring an R2R architecture, designed to process high-resolution PCM and DSD signals. It relies on two professional ADI AD1861-J DAC chips, combined with a "De-glitch" processing and S/PDIF digital filtering intended to reduce conversion errors and jitter during transmission.
Designed for hi-fi installations as well as desktop use, it combines R2R conversion, a parametric equalizer accessible via a browser and gold-plated connectors. Its CNC-machined chassis, completed by two transparent panels, protects the internal components while keeping the circuit visible.
The SMSL R100 adopts an R2R conversion architecture based on two ADI AD1861-J DAC chips. It also integrates a proprietary high-resolution DSD conversion algorithm, capable of processing DSD signals while retaining the characteristic operation of an R2R architecture. The "De-glitch" circuit reduces transient errors and distortion generated during conversion, in order to maintain a stable and accurate reproduction.

For signals transmitted through the S/PDIF interface, the R100 uses a digital filtering algorithm developed specifically by SMSL. It acts on clock jitter and disturbances related to signal transport, which improves transmission stability and reduces information loss during digital processing. Channel separation and soundstage accuracy are thus preserved without adding unnecessary processing to the signal.
The R100 features a configurable PEQ parametric equalizer accessible from a web interface, without installing any specific software. The user can choose between Direct EQ mode and two customizable profiles, EQ1 and EQ2, then save the settings directly in the device. This organization allows quick adaptation of the system's response to different speakers, different headphones or various listening uses.

The gold-plated input and output connectors are more resistant to oxidation and maintain a stable electrical contact over time, reducing losses and transmission variations. The CNC-machined chassis receives several finishing and polishing operations, forming a rigid structure that protects the internal components against vibration and shock. Its two transparent panels make the electronic layout visible, while its format allows it to be installed in a hi-fi system or on a desk.
