The FiiO M21 is a stylish Hi-Res portable audio player (DAP) that delivers excellent audio performance. Powered by an 8-core Snapdragon 680 SoC and running Android 13, it ensures fast processing speeds and a smooth user experience, while offering broad compatibility with services such as Tidal, Qobuz, Apple Music, Spotify, and Deezer.
To ensure high-quality sound, the M21 features four CS43198 DAC chips and a balanced amplifier architecture. Its output power reaches 950mW, making it ideal even for use with high-impedance headphones.
The M21 features two USB-C ports, a balanced 4.4mm jack output, and a single-ended 3.5mm jack/coaxial combo output. Its 4.7-inch display ensures a clear and responsive viewing experience. Its dual power mode allows you to use either an external power supply or the internal battery, making it just as convenient for stationary use as it is on the go. Additionally, its bidirectional Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi capabilities make the M21 particularly versatile.
FiiO M21: 4 CS43198 DAC chips
The four CS43198 DAC chips enable a fully differential eight-channel output design, unlocking the full potential of headphones through exceptional dynamic performance and excellent resistance to interference. The headphone amplifier section employs a two-stage design: the first stage handles voltage amplification, while the second stage handles current amplification, ensuring a purer, more detailed sound.
FiiO M21: A high-performance SoC processor
The FiiO M21 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor, an octa-core SoC manufactured using a 6nm process that delivers high performance while minimizing power consumption. This SoC enables the M21 to run Android 13 while maintaining a smooth user experience and ensuring compatibility with Hi-Res audio apps.
FiiO M21: Internal structure
To minimize crosstalk between the digital and analog circuits, the M21 features separate power supply circuits. The analog circuit is also divided among several independent power supplies that power the DAC and the headphone amplifier. This dedicated power supply and its distribution deliver greater audio detail and a refined, natural sound.
The M21's audio circuit incorporates high-precision film resistors and low-drift capacitors to improve sound consistency across channels and frequencies. Ten high-capacity, low-impedance tantalum capacitors power the amplifiers and the digital-to-analog converter, ensuring a constant power reserve and a powerful, dynamic sound.
FiiO M21: A high-precision clock signal
To ensure optimal synchronization and stability, the M21 features a 5th-generation FPGA paired with two femtosecond quartz oscillators. As a result, the system delivers a high-precision, low-jitter clock for faithful reproduction of PCM and DSD signals at any sampling rate.
FiiO M21: Long battery life
Thanks to its 4000mAh high-voltage battery, the M21 delivers up to 15 hours of playback via its unbalanced output and up to 12.5 hours via its balanced output, ensuring long hours of listening without any loss of quality. Plus, the built-in 20W fast charging capability lets you fully recharge the battery even during short charging sessions.
