The iBasso DX270 R2R Ultra is a high-end audiophile digital audio player (DAP) designed to deliver outstanding sound performance on the go. It features a unique conversion architecture combining a 20-bit R2R + 4-bit String hybrid DAC, integrated into a fully differential 8-channel configuration, supported by an FPGA-Master 3.0 controller and ultra-precise femtosecond clocks. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor running Android 13 with Mango OS, this player offers a smooth and versatile user experience. In terms of connectivity, it includes a 3.5mm single-ended output, a 4.4mm balanced output (headphone and line), a coaxial output, as well as a USB-C port for charging, data transfer and USB DAC functionality. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 support, it combines audiophile performance with modern connectivity.
The DX270 stands out with its innovative approach to digital-to-analog conversion. Unlike traditional DACs, iBasso introduces a hybrid R2R Ultra architecture, combining a high-precision resistor network (344 resistors) with a String DAC to optimize linearity and reduce distortion. This design achieves a dynamic range of 130dB with extremely low THD+N, while preserving the natural and organic sound signature typical of R2R DACs.
Thanks to its fully differential 8-channel design, the DX270 effectively eliminates zero-crossing distortion, often present in traditional R2R DACs. The result is a smooth sound reproduction with a wide soundstage, rich timbre and excellent micro-dynamics. This player successfully combines analog musicality with modern technical performance, delivering an immersive and detailed listening experience.

The FPGA-Master 3.0 system plays a key role in the DX270’s performance. It ensures real-time control of the audio signal, corrects component-related errors and optimizes the overall accuracy of the DAC. It also offers several listening modes, including a NOS (Non-Over Sampling) mode and four internally developed digital filters, allowing users to tailor the sound signature to their preferences.

Equipped with a Snapdragon 665, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable internal storage, the DX270 delivers a smooth and modern user experience. Its dual system Android 13 + Mango OS allows both access to an open environment (streaming apps, etc.) and an optimized pure audio mode. Its wireless connectivity (dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0) further enhances its everyday versatility.
The iBasso DX270 features a particularly powerful amplification stage, capable of competing with some desktop systems. Through its 4.4mm balanced output, it delivers up to 1575mW + 1575mW at 32Ω in Super Gain mode (with external 12V power supply). This high current capability allows the DX270 to easily drive both sensitive in-ear monitors and demanding audiophile headphones, including high-impedance models.

The iBasso DX270 features a refined design combining modern aesthetics with traditional Hi-Fi inspiration. Its CNC-machined aluminum chassis showcases clean and robust lines, offering both excellent durability and a premium feel in hand. Compact and relatively lightweight (around 265g), it remains easy to carry while inspiring confidence through its build quality.
On the front, the DX270 is equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) capacitive touchscreen, ensuring excellent readability and smooth navigation under Android. The “in-cell” display technology improves touch responsiveness and provides a more seamless visual integration with the chassis, reinforcing the device’s premium appearance.
The overall design is complemented by well-thought-out ergonomics, with discreet physical controls and a particularly clean finish, highlighting its high-end positioning. The DX270 stands out with a design that is both understated, elegant and functional, perfectly aligned with its audiophile ambitions, as pleasant to use as it is to look at.
