The PURIFI SPK16 is a complete speaker DIY kit for passive 2-way bookshelf speakers developed by PURIFI to deliver high-end acoustic performance in a compact enclosure of approximately 19 liters. Based on an architecture using a 6.5-inch woofer/midrange driver, a 1.3-inch high-dispersion tweeter with a large 147mm waveguide, and two 6.5-inch passive radiators, the SPK16 was designed to provide an extended and particularly linear response with bass extension reaching 32Hz at -3dB despite its compact cabinet volume.
The kit includes all the drivers required to build a pair of speakers:
The system uses a passive 2-way configuration with a crossover frequency of approximately 1.8kHz and is based on an advanced acoustic design using modeling and optimization methods through Comsol and Matlab. The recommended cabinet dimensions are approximately 250 x 450 x 300 mm and benefit from a geometry specifically engineered to optimize sound dispersion and reduce acoustic disturbances caused by baffle edges. This design allows the SPK16 to achieve extremely wide and consistent dispersion with a diffusion angle of ±70° up to beyond 15kHz.

The SPK16 is based on the renowned PURIFI transducers designed to deliver extremely low distortion and excellent linearity.
The PTT6.5X04-NAA-09 woofer uses a black anodized aluminum cone combined with an inverted dust cap to improve rigidity and pistonic behavior.
The PTT1.3T04-HAG-10 tweeter combined with a large 147mm waveguide provides particularly consistent dispersion as well as excellent coherence between bass/midrange and treble frequencies.

The SPK16 uses four 6.5-inch passive radiators to achieve impressive low-frequency extension while maintaining a compact format.
The passive radiators are installed on each side of the speaker in a so-called “Force Cancelling” configuration that significantly reduces cabinet vibrations and unwanted mechanical resonances.
This architecture enables bass response down to 32Hz at -3dB with excellent control and particularly clean and articulate low frequencies.
The cabinet design has been specifically optimized to reduce diffraction and preserve the acoustic performance of the drivers.
The large roundovers on the baffle edges provide very wide and consistent dispersion with a diffusion angle of ±70° up to beyond 15kHz.
This design promotes a wide, stable and natural soundstage with excellent spatial coherence even off-axis.
