IBASSO DC04U Ultra Portable USB DAC Headphone Amplifier

The iBasso DC04U Ultra is a portable USB DAC with integrated headphone amplifier in a dongle format, designed to deliver audiophile-grade performance on smartphones, tablets, or computers. It is based on a dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC architecture operating in a true 4-channel balanced configuration, combined with advanced digital processing via a proprietary FPGA and femtosecond oscillators for optimal timing accuracy. Hi-Res Audio compatible, it supports streams up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and native DSD512, ensuring extremely detailed sound reproduction.

On the amplification side, it delivers a maximum power output of up to 980mW per channel at 32Ω via the 4.4mm balanced output, and 280mW per channel via the 3.5mm single-ended output, allowing it to drive both sensitive IEMs and more demanding headphones. Connectivity includes a USB-C input, a 4.4mm balanced headphone output, a 3.5mm jack output (headphone + CTIA microphone), as well as a coaxial S/PDIF output via the 3.5mm jack.

The DC04U Ultra features a 0.96" color display showing real-time information (volume, gain, sampling rate), along with three physical buttons for direct control of volume, gain, digital filters, and balance without relying on an app. It is also compatible with a dedicated Android app (UAC), providing access to advanced DSP including a 10-band parametric equalizer (PEQ), multiple presets, and fine-tuning options. The whole unit is housed in a CNC-machined stainless steel chassis with tempered glass, offering a robust and premium build, and is compatible with many systems (Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, consoles) via USB Audio.
